Cyprus Postal Changes 1.1.21

Post by boycott »

Found this online today - https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/cyprus- ... ry-1-2021/

Cyprus Post on Monday informed the public of important changes to come in effect as of January 1, 2021 on the way mail can be sent overseas.

These are listed below:

1. It becomes mandatory for the electronic filling in of the Shipping and Transmission Data Sheet (customs declaration) by the sender himself/herself.
2. This obligation applies to all items containing goods to countries outside the European Union as well as the EPG, EMS Datapost and Parcel Services, regardless of destination and content.
3. In order to be able to prepare the electronic Shipping Form and the transmission of the electronic Customs Declaration, the Cyprus Post has prepared the Shipping Tool application, which is available on the Cyprus Post website: https://shipping.cypruspost.post/shippi ... -web/#/en/
4. Before submitting any item that falls into the above categories, the Shipping Certificate/ Customs Declaration must be prepared in advance by the senders through the Shipping Tool application, following the instructions listed on the relevant page.

The public is advised to prepare the Delivery Notes from home or office, before going to the Post Office.

You do not need to pre-print any item, except to indicate the reference number that will be given by the Shipping Tool application, on the item.

This is gong to be difficult for us, and I suspect for some others as we will not be unique..
Where you have to fill in the 'Sender Details' is is Mandatory to fill in the 'Street Name'
We do not have one.. We live outside of our village at the side of a concrete track.. The 'lane' has no name ???

I have a PO Box at one of the Paphos post offices. At my previous house we had the same problem as you as we didn't have any mail delivery to the house. We solved it by getting and using a PO Box in Paphos. That was much easier and was more efficient. We collected our own mail. But I'm not sure how this new system will work.Even if people have a tablet or laptop not everyone has the necessary equipment or computing knowledge to carry out this new edict.surely, the PO should have a supply of these forms available for customers to fill in?

Still, Brexiteers will take delight in the new blue passport. They'll claim it will make up for all the additional duties, taxes, pain, inconvenience and loss of current privilege when we travel to other EU countries.
What, in the name of all that is holy, has your post got to do with the way the Cyprus post operates? Not only is your post totally irrelevant, it deals with a different country. Get with it, man!

So tell me what on earth does Brexit have to do with sending packages to the USA etc? Because I have been filling forms regularly for the past few weeks, and as far as I am aware, China, USA etc are not in the EU? Some people really need to engage their brain before making stupid Brexit remarks.

Pleas tell me, if you can, what does sending packages abroad have to do with a person travelling?

Trev,
Think it's time you just made a street sign and stick it out at the end of the 'lane'.
It's not going to change your current address but at least it will match what's on the paperwork 😉

You jest, but years ago, I know someone who built a house out in the sticks in Larnaca,
he paid for a road to be made up, and the local council allowed him to choose the name for that road,
if my memory is correct he named it after his late mums name.

I wasn't joking. It's the ideal solution under the new rules.

I thought this was a genius idea from you PhotoLady and totally agree.

Maybe you should set your Forum friends a challenge to come up with a suitable name Trev? Just sayin😁

I went with a screenshot of my place at google maps to the muchtar and he could give me a street adress including a number. Doesn't mean it's known to the post office though.

Saw this article regarding UK postal services to the EU which may clarify a few points.

I wouldn't be worrying too much about it at this moment as no post is going to Europe from UK, as yet. European incoming and dispatch is still under suspension.
The Royal Mail website will hopefully be updated today:

Welcome to our international incident bulletin; a round up of any issues which may be affecting mail services to and from countries around the world.

We keep this information as up-to-date as possible, with information supplied to Royal Mail by the various foreign national postal authorities.

International delivery update – Temporary suspension of some international services due to Coronavirus transport impacts.

More info and if you scroll down the list you will see which destinations are shown as Suspended:
