Anyone else due out for Christmas/New Year?

Post by Iris 2 »

We are due to fly out on Boxing day for 7 nights as a family of 5.

With the new restrictions that have been implemented we are unsure what to do. Do we still come and just spend time at the house and in the garden etc or do we look to book a hotel that may have a few facilities available? Or do we just try and move the flights as at the moment the schedule is still running!

Like many I we can't wait for the year to be behind us and so look forward to normality returning. We've had 4 trips cancelled this year so the like jobs I had planned at the house are mounting up!

Anyone else in a similar position?

Cheers

Thanks Everyone

It's a tough one for us and some of the information available is still a little vague.

We managed to get out in October but if we don't come for New Year our next trip is February (half term)...and the way things are even that this in doubt!

Entry to any EU State is down to the individual State by way of agreed protocols and corridors etc. You cannot seriously believe that the remaining 27 will ground all EU bound flights from the UK. The clue to this conundrum are the sources quoted both 'Project Fear' veterans.
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.

If anyone is thinking of coming here for Christmas, we are virtually in Lockdown. Most shops are open, but all Restaurants, tavernas, cafeterias, coffee bars, bars, cinema, night clubs and theatre are closed. The Mall is closed. Also there are only a few hotels and hotel apartments open. There is also a night curfew from 9pm to 5am. All this due to Covid virus.

I noticed that the FCO are now advising against all but essential travel to Cyprus because of the risk of Covid. If you come over here you may or may not be able to return to the UK when you planned. Flights here tend to be very erratic and there are people here now whose return flight has been cancelled.
Good luck.

Personally I wouldn’t bank on things opening up early in the New Yr, if the govt can effectively cancel Xmas with 2 days notice, I can’t see them being in a hurry to open restaurants and bars until positive cases are reduced significantly.
But that’s just my opinion
If you never ask the question, the answer will always be....no
