Now is not the time to wonder whether I closed the car window or not.

At 02:16, it was stotting down here at 1.26 mm/min (25.6 mm overnight). Slightly damp.

Another example how different the weather/rainfall can be in Cyprus. The same time Dominic had heavy downpour I did some night pics of the lightnings at sea. Twenty minutes later there was a short rainfall of ca 15 minutes with good wind, but all I measured overnight was 3 mm/m2, and I am only 9 km away from Polemi.

It's been weird here for a few days earlier this week. Really heavy rain in big but short spurts that sounds like hailstones.
It's settled since yesterday but still very cold.
Nice and sunny in the back garden and blinding me at the front at my work table by the window.
Nice and warm though through the glass 🙂

The thunderstorms here are mostly very small but violent cells, sometimes as small as about 1 km across. As a rule, they do not last very long but you can get very mighty wet if you are out in them. Last night was a little bit of an exception. (Before I get bollocked this was at Mosfiloti):
about 02:13, violent rain, lightning, 6 mm in about eight minutes
from 02:22 to 04:45, fairly constant heavy rain, 10 mm
from 04:45 to 05:30, another heavy shower, about 1.8 mm
from 05:30 to 08:00: fairly constant heavy rain, about 10 mm
(times and rainfall are approximate, read off a computer screen)

Lightning strikes shown on attachment below.
