Yes, the lady I mentioned earlier who owns a small, but busy hairdressing salon. Applied initially for the lock down pay, but nothing happened. She did try to visit the social office, but the queues were long and staff not so helpful. Since then As Thursday is her day off, she always has a lot of other things to attend to, so waiting for hours , cuts into her time. She has since asked her accountant to try to sort her claim out with them.
I imagine a hairdressers takings must also vary quite lot....

No waiting for hours necessary, you down load the forms, fill them in, and there is a box outside the social office, just put the forms in the box, go home job done

So was the taxi strike just another rumour?

I'd read that only the drivers in Nicosia struck, the rest "gave their support", whatever that means

Plus, that's what we pay our accountant for, to take care of financial matters outside our own area of expertise. I was amazed how simple and straightforward the payout process was.

From memory, the level of turnover or fluctuations thereon did not come into it.
There were a variety of schemes with a sliding scale of support, depending on number of employees, if self employed etc, one of key criteria (apart from being legitimately registered) was that business turnover had to have fallen by more than 25% compared to comparable period, or you had to completely suspend operations, to qualify.

Lloyd they are already investigating 2000 companies who flouted the rules so not quite true. For each monthly period, you had to qualify or you were not legally able to claim. It was very specific so if you claimed the first period, you could not necessarily claim the second or third. Because they found false claims, they now require an accountant’s declaration. I believe they got the information from the VAT return for the three month period which would have flagged up anomalies.

We only claimed once, and had three payments over three months

Not sure why they did that - was this the self employed scheme or employer/employee scheme? It wasn’t my experience. We only qualified for the first period and were only paid for one.
