Would anyone recommend using an agency for changing the MEU1 to an MEU3. If so, any idea of how much this service will be.

It’s really easy to do it yourself, make an appointment with immigration Dept, take your passport to make the appointment and they’ll give you a list of what you need to take with you

Some people use Gwenny's service, you still need to provide documentation to her office and be present at the interview, it is in effect a queue jumping service and costs I believe 180 euros per person.

I used Gwenny Red Tape 26-945625 for my MEU3.. She is an agent who has long experience of getting documentation Sorted for foreigners. As time is getting shorter before Dec 31, it may be worth you visiting her office. It costs €120. But for this, she will guide you through the process, starting by telling you exactly what documents Immigration will require to process your application.
Its a matter of personal choice, but I can tell you that plenty of people decide to have her help.
