60 years old tomorrow!

1.33 was as equally exceptional as today's values are, just not for the same reason. People have short memories.

I don't live in a bubble, and you don't have to be so condescending. I have lived seventy years in this world, and have gained a lot of experience without a bubble, seen it, done it, etc. etc. You say that 'anger' is growing, maybe that's because YOU feel anger, or maybe just enjoy stirring. What gives you the right to speak on behalf of other British people if you have no experience of it, please provide proof of said 'anger.

Black is white and white can be black if it suits the dystopian logic of the remainers...

Look at this argument: -
So none of us know enough people to gauge opinion - but she can gauge opinion because she read it in the Daily Mail...Lynsab wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2017 4:39 pm I didn't say where I lived, as we all personally only know probably 100 people at best wherever in the UK we live it's no gauge whatsoever to the true feeling of anger or not..
My opinion is is that generally within the UK anger is definitely rising .....even the dreadful DM is casting doubts...who'd have believed it.
It is the same with LOLoyd arguing that buying from a non-EU country is incredibly complicated because of the tariffs but that he can deal with China easily because the EU doesn't put any barriers in place.
You couldn't make it up - except they do.
Still, I had a lovely walk to the post office today, the sun is shining and (at least here in Pissouri) post Article 50 the sky still seems to be in its normal place....

A good post, and very true, I thought the DM was taboo, seems not.

We ALL live in our regional bubbles unless we drive up and down the UK everyday asking everyone their opinions ! how do we know what the whole country is thinking? You can't possibly believe that because people you know are agreeing with you, then the whole of the UK is.....I'm not condescending one bit...but if you believe what you say that the whole country is delighted, then you're naive ....if I'm wrong re anger rising, ( which I guage from what I watch and read ) then surely you're wrong about everything being hunky dory? Why is it always your thoughts that must be correct?Firefly wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 5:45 pm Lynsab

I didn't read 'anger' in the DM, I don't read it...I just saw a tv presenter show an article from the DM that was clearly negative on brexit...therefore even the great uk 'toilet paper' is possibly turning...

CG I'm not on your wavelength at all so little point in me replying on what you have to say...although I see anyone who dares to be a remainer gets short shrift from you. It's almost as if you're worried about what they have to say? If you're so sure you're right, why bother to question those with opposing views? Why not just let them speak freely?

Ah, but it's ok for you to say that you know the anger is rising???
"I'm not condescending one bit". - really???
"...but if you believe what you say that the whole country is delighted, then you're naive ...." Dear Lord, just what planet are you on Lynsab?? This is exactly what you have done!!!
"if I'm wrong re anger rising, ( which I guage from what I watch and read )"
Ah right, so it's ok for you to gauge the anger rising from what you watch and read but not for Firefly to do exactly the same???? Sorry, but the word which springs to mind is hypocrite.
" then surely you're wrong about everything being hunky dory? Why is it always your thoughts that must be correct? "
Back at you Lynsab, this is exactly what you do, repeatedly. It's Lynsab's way or no way

So basically, anybody that disagrees with you should just not post...?

Well that is a brilliant idea for a discussion forum!

Dominic - can we please have separate 'Pro-Brexit' and 'Remainer' sections in 'Politics' please? That way Lynsab and other remainers can post their 'Remain' views without being challenged by nasty Brexiters...

I'm talking about how you deal with those of opposing views...no one else. you like laughing emoticons I see so added a few more.
I disagree vehemently with your (and other Remainers) views.
So if you post Remainer rhetoric in a political discussion forum you should expect a Brexiter to disagree with you - and I do.
You seem to think that I should get a Red Card for doing so or should not be allowed to disagree with you?
Honestly, your position is about as logical as saying, "I see no point in replying to what you say" and then doing so. Twice.

Re: 60 years old tomorrow!
It's strange isn't it, that whilst Lloyd was fixated on long sighted David Davies taking his glasses off to address the audience and putting them on again to read his notes, I was actually focussed on the issues being discussed. Responses to three questions in particular struck me:Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 1:31 am
Yes I did, excellent programme. As I watched David Davies floundering around, seemingly out of his depth, I could help but wonder how on earth he was ever selected to lead the negotiation team. For goodness sake, he must have taken his glasses off and then put them back on a hundred times during the hour. Sometimes he'd pop them into his breast pocket, then almost immediately take take back out and put them on. If a man can't decide whether or not he needs to wear his glasses, what chance has he got against the very astute negotiators he will be facing in a few weeks time![]()
Q: Should we expect to pay a large Brexit bill when we leave the EU?
Nick Clegg: Of course we should. If you run up a tab in the bar of a club and haven't paid for years and years and years, you have to settle up before you leave.
David Davies: It's not a club, and of course if you have a debt, you have to pay. However, let's spin this around. Instead of being a sizeable donor of £10bn per year, if we were a beneficiary of 3bn per year - would the EU tell us that they would carry on paying us £3bn per year for 5 years after we left?
Q: Is Theresa May right to say that no deal is better than a bad deal ahead of the negotiations?
Both Nick Clegg and Alex Salmond said that no deal was the worst possible outcome. When pushed by David Dimbleby to confirm this meant that a bad deal was better than no deal, they re-affirmed that no deal was the worst possible outcome.
Q: Should there be a second Referendum at the end of the process?
Nick Clegg: Yes
David Davies: No. If there were to be a second Referendum, the EU would give us the worst possible deal during negotiations knowing that the British public would eventually reject it in favour of remaining in the EU.
David Davies performed very well indeed. Nick Clegg was - well, Nick Clegg. Passionate, articulate and simply wrong on so many points. Kerr Starmer was lukewarm, like the Labour Party and Alex Salmond proved himself to be the Scottish Nationalist he is at heart - all things Scottish Parliament = good, all things UK Parliament = bad. A very poor performance by Suzanne Evans (UKIP) but Melanie Phillips from the Times was excellent - lucid and cogent (there is no 'soft' or 'hard' Brexit - the British people voted Brexit. You can't leave the EU and still pay into it - you can't be half in and half out).

Re: 60 years old tomorrow!
Another interesting article from the Telegraph...Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2017 2:38 am Perhaps symbolic that the man who did more than anyone - and lied more than anyone - to get the nation to back Brexit, said this yesterday:
Nigel Farage vows to leave the UK if Brexit is a 'disaster'
The Telegraph Laura Hughes 29 March 2017
Nigel Farage has vowed to leave the UK and live abroad if Brexit turns out to be a "disaster".
The former Ukip leader said he believed the UK's exit from the EU would be a success and that Britons have managed to grab themselves a "lifeboat off the Titanic.”
But he told listeners to his LBC radio show yesterday that he would emigrate if the negotiations do not go to plan.
Mr Farage said: “If Brexit is a disaster, I will go and live abroad. I will go and live somewhere else...it isn’t going to be a disaster. We’ve just managed to get ourselves in a lifeboat off the Titanic.”
So it's OK for Farage, who has since prostituted himself to the Trump cause; the rest of the UK population will be left to pick up the pieces.
The EU is on the verge of the abyss. Here's why Theresa May has a winning hand and must go all in
The Prime Minister should exploit the current turmoil in the EU to get the best deal for Britain in the upcoming Brexit negotiations, Telegraph columnist Allister Heath argues.
In a new video, Article 50: Theresa May's Winning Hand, Heath shows just how powerful her negotiating position could actually be.
He contends that the rise of populism on the continent, the strength of Britain's economy and Europe's fear of terrorism all make a good deal for the UK more likely.
And he urges Mrs May, as she triggers Article 50, to recognise that she could have the upper hand and go "all in" when the chance to strike arises.
"The EU is on the verge of the abyss," he says. "We need to leave quickly. But it is clear that Theresa May has a winning hand."

George, as I said months ago, you have a problem with most who disagree with you...if you read the post before you do your usual ganging up you'd see I'd already pointed out...it's MY opinion on what I see / hear in the UK anger that is indeed rising! she says she knows enough people to dispute that....id already said the opposite...I'm not withdrawing it.
Look I'm tired of arguing with you ex PP crowd, I see your forum has become a back slapping exercise with no one to argue with anymore, so you've all moved in on here...
As it's my fault for replying to poopy and CG to counter their arguement s...from now on I'll just post my opinions and let you all roll....that I'm sure will pacify you...

Have a nice life

Lynsab, you've said many things months ago, strangely it doesn't make them right. You have a warped idea that what you say is always right and that everyone else is wrong. It escapes me for the moment, but there's a word for that. If you want to discuss "ganging up" - a playground expression used by my granddaughter and friends, which I find quite at odds with a grown woman - just check out yourself, Jim B and HIC, bearing in mind the accusation was not mine. I have no problem with like for like posting! I'm happy to discuss and debate with anyone without resorting to name calling or silly epithets or false accusations. Think back.
We all know it's your opinion Lynsab, again, it doesn't mean it's right. Or that other posters have to agree with it.
