To fill a tax form or not .

Post by Mrblobby »

Big thanks to member SBS on the eastern site for finding out this information from the tax office .

Indeed this conflict of opinions has always existed.
To clarify things:
-Till the tax year 2019 there isn't the obligation to file a form if your income is less than €19,500 unless there is a special reason and you are personally informed by the authorities to do so.
-A few months ago a new legislation has passed that says that from tax year 2020 and afterwards everybody must file a tax return form regardless of his/her income.

But if you have filled paper ones in for years and years and then a couple of internet ones it would seem wrong not to do one this year ..

I agree Trev , I have done the same for years and I will still be doing my on line tax form this year , even though our pension income is well under 19500 .

I think the information is only pertinent to people who have been told for years by the tax office that they did not need to fill in a tax form . But it appears from next year everyone will have to start filling in tax forms ,
