Site Speed

Post by Dominic »

Have other people noticed the site running slowly recently. It seemed sluggish this morning to me, though it could have been something at my end.

I think there might be an issue with a server between Cyprus and the rest of Europe.

If I use a VPN and access the site, the connection is fine. Considering it is being sent via USA that is good.
If I turn the VPN off (the built-in one that comes with Opera), it gets sluggish. This is especially visible on blogs.

Yep, I couldn't send a message to the site hosts via chrome just then. I had to go via the VPN. So there is likely a network issue between Cyprus and part of the EU.

A UK site I regularly use for my research was very slow earlier this morning and when I try to access it now the message states ''We are not able to find the site you re requesting''. Not a computer issue as all get the same message.

However, I can access the UK newspapers etc. so unsure if it is just a problem with that particular website.

Basically, there's no point me rebooting our server. :)

Thank you for the input. It is helpful.
