Think I'm losing the plot with this.

We have family coming out for a visit next week. They've been looking round their area in UK for place to get the covid test. Which is proving difficult and they are on the verge of cancelling their visit.

Now. On the official FlightPass site the prerequisites state that: The passenger should have a valid COVID 19 test OR agree to have a test on arrival.

Now that to me means you can opt for either. Yes?

But below that it says the test to have been conducted during last 72 hrs BEFORE departure.

Am I missing something or has my age finally caught up with me??

It is available for Cypriot Citizens and all legal residents of the Republic.

If we’re looking at the same guidance - The Prerequisite guidelines, dated June 20th, for Category B countries, Note 3 on page 3 are pretty clear that the option to have the test on Arrival is for Cypriot Citizens and Legal Residents (and a couple, of other very specific categories). If looking this something else I can’t see as part because I’m not registered with FlightPass , then I imagine the ‘or’ is referring to these people on the broadest sense.

Ironically, given the focus on random testing, they may well end up getting selected for a test on arrival, as well, but if not holders of a Cypriot passport, or MEU1/3 I wouldn’t risk travelling without a valid negative test.

If they had changed the process to permit a test on arrival for everybody travelling from a category B country, it would be huge news here, and it isn’t.

Hope they can get sorted with a test.

They have to be tested in the uk with a negative result within 72 hours of departure.

They would be turned away by their carrier since they don’t have an MEU1 or 3 and the test must be valid within the 72 hours stipulation.......I read on a forum today that someone’s test was outside the allotted time and they were turned away by their carrier.....

Italians cannot access COVID tests so are allowed to have a test on arrival. They are in Category 4:

4. Persons, in countries category B, where the authorities of these countries, are not in a position to offer COVID-19 testing to those wishing to travel to the Republic of Cyprus and following an announcement by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, passengers of these Countries are permitted to perform the COVID-19 test upon their entry to the Republic of Cyprus.
