Food Bank

Sorry if this has been asked recently but are there any food bank collection points in Paphos at the moment? I have several items of non perishable food which I won’t use but am sure someone else would if there is somewhere for me to take it to.

Following the call for FOOD / BASIC NECESSITIES to help our families through the work at The Learning Refuge & Caritas, Paphos, the following COLLECTION POINTS have been added:

This Friday, 10:00-14:00
Technopolis 20, Cultural Center, Nikolaou Nikolaidi 18.

ESSO petrol station at Tomb of the Kings 94 (near Lidl) daily from 8am-6pm.

Those who wish to leave a food bag / essentials.

Foods needed: rice, flour, sugar, spaghetti, oil, canned food, cookies, baby food, etc. Items for washing, shampoos, baby diapers, cleaning supplies, etc.

Paps supermarkets still have a basket for these donations

Just to let everyone know I finally got round to donating the spare food I had and went to the Esso garage on TOTK, most of the staff had no knowledge of them being a collection point, eventually a girl came out of the office who told me to go to the Technopolis 20 building near the court. The same thing happened there, no staff knew anything about it, however one lady said she knew of a Syrian family in need so I left the food with her to pass on to them.

As I sometimes get non perishable food left by guests in villas which I wouldn’t use myself I would be grateful for any further info re a collection point as it seems such a shame to throw it in the bin when people are in need.

I do realise that Paps have some baskets on their stores but would rather not walk in there with food that has been purchased elsewhere and which I have no receipt for!

sued51 - Such a shame that no one at Esso or Technopolis 20 were aware of the proper procedures and certainly worth a phone call to one of the other contacts in my post as I feel many people will have also been let down by the lack of knowledge - delighted your efforts were not in vain and at least one Syrian family will benefit from your kindness. Perhaps contact Chalkies in Coral Bay as they did a splendid job providing meals during the lockdown - maybe someone has a contact name and number please as it is not an area I frequent?
