Cyprus ID card expiry

Our credit card size ID cards will expire ( after 10 years ) next month.Is it as simple as toddling off to the Citizens Advice Centre and throwing yourself at their mercy.We have MEUI MEU3 GESY you name it..Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Only Cypriot citizens are entitled to Cyprus ID cards at present.

I was under the impression that they were no longer given to non Cypriots. Ours expired some time ago but we still use them locally for I D purposes.

The Meu1 replaced the ID card use for legal residency then was superseded by the Meu3,

Our id cards have no expiry date, but have been officially unacceptable for a long time. Not accepted, for instance, for gesy registration or driving licence renewal

Well, I hope by now you have applied & either received or still waiting for your MEU1 or 3

I did read many moons ago that a card was probable for Residents. A post on CM & PL a few days ago reported that Cypriots would be getting new biometric ID Cards.

My long expired id card is still accepted here, I don't carry MEU3 or passport with me......Even when the Police stopped me they accepted the ID card....

Those of us who have a Cypriot driving licence will find your same ID number is on there

I made a colour copy which is A5 size which fits nicely into my purse and has been accepted on many different occasions.
The original is in a secure place.

A4 sheet? assume you mean the MEU3 by that?

MEU3 and MEU1 are printed on a pale yellow coloured A4 sheet of paper.

I have photos of our MEUs and passports on my phone, together with one of our wedding certificate.

I still use my old Cypriot (expired ) ID card for ID purposes, it seems readily accepted on island. I hope that MEU3 holders will get new Cyprus Permanent Residents Cards next year as was written some months ago.As someone else wrote your ARC number is the important one.
