Are EJ requesting hand luggage is placed in the hold?

Post by johnandjen1 »

Question for those who have recently flown from UK with EasyJet.

I recall reading somewhere that there were plans for EJ to request hand luggage is placed in the hold as part of their Covid-19 precautions.

I cannot find any reference to this anywhere on their site or in recent media, hence this question to all who have recently flown with them.

I suspect/am hoping it was just media scare mongering with an unsubstantiated rumour but would be good to have confirmation

TIA

Hi John

We flew out from Luton on the 1st August and hand luggage was allowed in the cabin.

All pretty normal and well organised. Cold drinks and snacks were served but nothing hot.

Cheers

Thanks Darrell.
I realise things can change but that confirms my thoughts that the headline was a media 'scare'.

I used to be worried about having my cabin bag put in the hold, but having been asked once by EJ if they could put my bag in the hold (no charge) I gave in and let them do it. I actually find it easier as I don't need to haul it across the airport, or put it through the security Check. So, I am less encumbered with less to carry , take into duty free, or other places in the departure lounge. My case travels safely in the hold of the aircraft and is usually already on the carousel when I get to baggage reclaim. I have never lost anything. I don't pack my valuables in my cabin bag.
I carry my tablet and smart phone in my handbag.
So don't' worry!

Ah... how lucky are women to have a 'Hand Bag'.. But many people travel with various electrical items including a laptop.. And also they have medication in their 'hand luggage'
These are the two main reasons I have a cabin bag with me in the cabin

Arrived this afternoon on Easyjet.
Boarding card did state 'only space for 70 cabin bags in overhead lockers' we never got asked to give up our rucksacks so we did what we've always done and put it under the seat in front .

They didn't make you put your rucksack in that tiny frame at the boarding gate then, ha ha
