Forest Fire At The Windfarm

The following posted on the Forestry Commission's Facebook Page this morning:

Forest fire underway in the areas of Oreites, Musere and Dora

The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that the fire that occurred today Saturday, August 08, 2020 in the communities of Kouklia (Oreites), Musere and Dora is still underway. The front of the fire extends about 20 kilometers long.

Powerful firefighting forces with more than 30 firefighters with their crews, earth promoters and the Icarus Plan concerning operations of the flight means are attempting to extinguish the fire.
Additional firefighting forces are headed to the area to help with the work of extinguishing.

Preventive evacuation took place in the community of Dora.

Helicopters and the two yellow firefighting planes have flown over Anarita numerous times this morning. Hope they soon get it under control and that it doesn't damage the wind turbines or equipment.

How this fire could have such a long front, reaching from Orites until Dora and further....?

If true then and caught then these mindless arseholes should be jailed for a very long time.

Today this fire has spread to the Limassol area as far as Prastio, above Anogyra.
Its just awful as the strong winds and dry bondu ( dry scrub)make the fire very difficult to put out.
I read that Prastio has been evacuated. Its awful that the mindless pyromaniacs who start these bush fires often get away with it.
