On-line grocery shopping

Post by mike strand2 »

I was surprised to find that there is a company in Cyprus (Est 2011) doing what a lot of people would find extremely useful, whether housebound/car less & relying on someone else or just too busy working, For orders over €40 delivery is free, and for Pafos delivery is on Wednesdays afternoons only (at moment).

I've placed an order for delivery next Wednesday, so I'll let you know how it went.

Take a look if interested; https://www.supermarketcy.com.cy/en

Before you ask, I have absolutely no affiliation with this company whatsoever

UPDATE

My order arrived within the time slot I had reserved on-line. Carried through to my Kitchen for me to check & unpack. Nothing missing or substituted. Frozen goods had not defrosted at all.

My only criticism; I wish they had delivered in a cardboard box for me to recycle rather than 10 plastic carrier bags.

I'm definitely ordering again. I recommend.

Could be very useful if we have to isolate for a fortnight after we arrive.

Only snag there is if the person delivering the produce gets infected, especially as they will be visiting lots of places. Mind you, it could be better than jostling through the local supermarket.

The CM reports that panic buying started yesterday in Pafos.

My ex wondered why people are buying so much toilet paper. I said it must be because people are sh**ing themselves thinking about the CV. My daughter responsed by saying there's always The Daily Mail. To which I replied, well that's clearly superior to the coarse Daily Star! Ouch ;)

Another online service , I think they are based in paphos . So they have more delivery slots to our area , not as big a range as supermarketcy .

Since Mike posted about supermarketcy we have not been in a supermarket since March .

Papantoniou also offers a delivery and/or pick up service. Although it mentions a delivery charge on the website many people who used it during the lockdown didn't have to pay. You can arrange to pay by cash or card when you receive the goods.

If I should decide to use it I will just copy the information from my shopping receipts as you make a list of all the items you need (rather than most other sites where choice is limited) and that means I can also take advantage of the brochure offers which give me a monthly saving of between €37 and €45.
