I visited Beirut many times after their civil war and was impressed from parts of the huge city and the excellent food. Here a short video, also from Downtown Beirut, where I stayed that times. Unbelievable that most of this beauty is gone now...
We visited Beirut a number of times from Cyprus and really enjoyed our times there. Our trips were always by boat from Limassol so seeing the images following the explosion have been very poignant along with the cruise ship which got blown over and sunk at the edge of the port.

I flew always with MEA airlines and their already very old 707 to arrive after 20 minutes at Beirut airport which was quite tricky at that time (94)..
