Shielding

Post by Sadie »

Is anyone still shielding, or contemplating returning to it due to increasing numbers of the virus?

Think it is more that there has been this uptick in domestic cases with no travel history . At the moment they are all in the Limassol District hence the focus on random testing there this week.
It is a timely reminder that the virus has most certainly not gone away . On Friday night there was a birthday party at the local restaurant Here for 80+ people packed like sardines on tables many whoM had travelled down for the event from Limassol and other areas . We had fireworks, dancing, a singer and a band Just like old times pre COVID .

We have not stopped ''shielding'' ie still strict about hand washing measures, wearing face masks when in close contact with other people, disinfecting the weekly shop before storing it etc. Living in an apartment complex, we take measures with regards to the entrance door, light switches etc as we know no one else is taking any precautions. Not using the pool or communal furniture either - €300 fine per person + committee fined if authorities do a check as we can see it doesn't meet the required protocols.

Having written all that, happy to let everyone get on with their lives and do what they feel is necessary.

I must admit i am not using a mask unless compulsory, but I am using the hand gel many times and rubbing it on the shopping trolley handle..
My wife also wipes down all the items brought in from shops and washes the bags that we use ..

Personally I think it foolish to relax the simple precautions at the present time. Better SAFE than SORRY.

It's like the UK, you can't fix stupid.

There will always people who think that it won't happen to them, throw caution to the wind, and risk the health of others.
