U.K. Passport Renewal

In view of the current “lull” in travelling and wary of warnings of extended processing times, we decided to attempt a passport renewal. Thought I’d share the results:
- application started online and photo submitted online (boy is that a palava) Friday 26 June
- existing passport posted To U.K. Monday 29 June
- receipt of existing passport confirmed Monday 6 July
- confirmation of approval of application received Thursday 9 July
- confirmation of despatch of new passport and tracking info received Saturday 11 July
- arrived Larnaca Thursday 16 July
- collected from DHL Paphos Friday 17 July.

I thinks that’s pretty good turn around regardless of the Covid situation and hopefully useful info for those who may be concerned about the renewal process from here.

That is quite an impressive turnaround indeed. Did you get a new Blue one?

It’s black with a very different layout inside compared to the previously issued one. We have no interest in what colour it is on the outside.

I think the colour is a bit like that dress a couple of years ago, some people will see it differently to others. Personally I’m more interested in the content and validity. Ironically the colouring of the old EU style passports is more akin to the colour of the old “paint the empire pink” maps.
