Extortion in Cyprus? Surely not!

Some of those prices sound about right for what small kiosks and shops sell at so I'm not sure it's extortion. They could never afford to sell at supermarket prices. The scandal is that the government don't allow them to be spent in supermarkets where they would go much further. It is after all taxpayers money,

I agree with what you say, I think 'extortion' is too strong a word to attach to SMEs who are struggling to survive against the big boys.
