My bet is that it will happen, 48 hours either side of March 20th, as predicted in the ancient Coptic Storm tables. If not, I shall eat my baseball cap...

Remember that this event usually occurs around the time of the Spring Equinox (when the clocks go forward 1 hr in the Northern Hemisphere)

Cheers- AL :?:
Time to get chomping. The 23/03 is coming to a close and still no Coptic Storm. Given that the two day leeway from the 20th will have officially ended last midnight, I expect to see evidence of an at least chewed baseball cap.

So, that is one HIT and one MISS so far. We won't have long to wait for the next one though, as it is due in on the 25th March.

Do folks really believe in Coptic storm forecast?, I go with "Devil" bit of a myth, of course we get bad weather in some parts of the year but they never for me coincide at any point with these so called Coptic forecast, just another bout of indifferent weather. March the 25th certainty did not bring bad weather, we all sat out at the Yialos taverna on the beach had a lunch for Mothers day.

So, that is a definite FAIL on the Coptic Storm prediction of March 25th.

Since we started this experiment, the score is currently:

Success: 1
Fail: 2

Can the Coptic Calendar redeem itself? It's on the ropes, but it will have one more chance this season, on 29th April.

Definite storm rumbling tonight, and forecast for the weekend. Not a Coptic prediction in sight though. Oof! That's got to hurt.

Worth remembering the date though, should you want to enter the Fantasy Coptic Storm League, later on in the year.

That wouldn't have been coptic either. The last coptic date was the 25th

So what? The date predicted was the 25th. We had some wind on the 29th, and it is raining on the 31st.

And what about the non-existent storm on the 20th?

We had a huge storm tonight ............ my tomato plants are still swimming in their troughs!

Unfortunately, it was 6 days late or 4 days if you take the 48 hour leeway! ;)

Well for my money, 'our Dev's' scientific mind, and more importantly 'proof' does it for me. 🗜😊

I have a different recipe for beef gravy than him. . . . . . . . . But, that's another matter. X

When was the earthquake?
Is the Coptic storms mythology not supposed to also relate to unusual happenings not just wet and windy weather?

But the 29th isn't 2 days either side of the 25th! And there was nothing around the 20th.

I have moved this to the environment section, so it will be easier to find in a couple of weeks.

Dominic

Would you perhaps also move: solar panels, to the same section as there were many posts.

Incidently, I had stifado yesterday, so the joke is already covered. There was no sand however, which is supposed to accompany the storm (high wind) today.
