Tour operators refuse to come
Re: Tour operators refuse to come
Yes, I have read the article in question. Although Mr Perdios (assistant tourism dept Manager) says that only Jet 2 and Tui are refusing tp fly to Paphos, and that other UK airlines will continue to fly to the island, a quick check of Easy Jet and British Airways web sites shows that these companies have no flights scheduled until the end of August.
Although RyanAir continues to fly here, its departure airports in the UK seem to be mainly Stanstead and Liverpool. These airports only serve a limited part of the UK. They would entail long journeys, some cross country to anywhere south of London, or to the west, Wales, the south west etc.
Although hopefully individual tourists will come here, the mass UK tour groups will not under the current entry system.

Well, they are taking bookings, but I booked ages ago and my flt to Bristol on 3rd Aug has been cancelled by them a couple of days ago. I have a choice of changing my booking or waiting for a refund.

Yes, UK tourists could be allowed on Aug1 or later, if Cyprus changes UK’s current listing from list C to list B. But the tour operators want UK to be listed as A which is all up in the air at present! So only a few Ryanair or Wizz Air Flts arriving PFO at present.
Sorry no definite news!

I hope the government doesn't cave in at the behest of the economy & expense of the continuing good health of the nation.
Maybe the likes of Greece, Spain & Portugal will be a litmus test to establish what we should do here. I'm glad I'm not living in those countries at the moment. I sincerely hope they do not suffer a second lockdown.

Re: Tour operators refuse to come
I have just been on Easy Jet and I can get a flight to Paphos on August 29th for £40 !
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.
Re: Tour operators refuse to come
It would be interesting to know how many people were on these easy jet flights and whether they were tourists residents or cypriots, but I suppose that information is not readily availkable.
