Akinci concerned about resumption of flights from Turkey

News In Cyprus 35 mins ago

The Turkish-Cypriot leader has expressed concern with the rise of Covid-19 in Turkey and the resumption of flights to the occupied areas on July 1st, citing Turkish scientists and asking health experts to take a strong stand.
Mustafa Akinci stressed that scientists in Turkey have expressed concern over the rise of Covid-19 cases in the country and wondered why experts in the occupied North are not equally concerned.
In a written statement in connection with the resumption of flights from Turkey, Akinci notes that during this period, health professionals are obliged to speak up publicly and firmly, adding that their opinions should guide policy.
He underlined that connectivity with Turkey is of vital importance but it was the politicians responsibility to protect people’s health beyond all other considerations.

The title of this is a bit confusing as currently the North/South crossings aren't open. When flights from the north to Turkey will be Starting may be of academic interest in the south.

Which part of - Are the North / South border crossings open ? is causing you confusion ?

Seems a straightforward question to me – I only ask as if there were to be an influx of Turkish Flights to the North of the Island would they have access to the South ? Bearing in mind that Turkey’s infection rate is rising, So I think it may be more than academic interest to the South.

Turkey has seen an increase in the last week or so
with flights coming into the north, there is a good chance the virus will be brought over,
Unfortunately Turkeys Dictator lied all along, about how many cases there were in his country, especially at the beginning,
So as far as when the crossings will be open, I think this will further delay the opening.

I have just read this in Saturday news..
" Covid-19: Turkey Sees New Surge After Reopening, Reports Highest Cases in a Month
The Health Ministry has reported 1,459 new cases for the past 24 hours amid the government's reopening steps since June 1 "

Not good news... I wonder how many other countries will follow..
