Protocols for Tourists from outside Cyprus

Post by Mike.1940 »

Cyprus government have sent a Corona Covid 19 destination protocol to tourist companies abroad from Cyprus for requirements for entry. Tourists from Class B countries i.e. UK will have to have a PCR statement to show on arrival.
Does anyone know what these initials stand for?

Yes, that's true, the UK isn't included in the list of the 19 countries which was published in the Cyprus Mail yesterday. Unfortunately, neither the UK, Russia or the USA are listed due to the present high infection rates in these countries. It also said that the situation will be reviewed weekly so countries will be included when their national infection rate falls.

Of interest is that on a recent flight from the UK to Cyprus organized to repatriate Cypriot citizens from the UK here, 8;of those on the flight have developed the Corona virus and after bring tested positive are now in sole isolation or hospital.

PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction it's basically a process that finds and photocopies certain sections of DNA (or RNA for viruses) . I. E. It looks for markers present in the Covid 19 virus and amplifies them if they are there so they can be detected.
