Burglaries!

Post by Chaddy »

Met a friend of ours this morning,he said he had just been shopping and on his list was all the usual anti
burglary gadgets as he had an attempted break in last night.
He said he was in his garden shed at about 9.30 when this lone guy appeared around the back of his house. He was masked accompanied with all the usual tools of his trade, crow bar etc
The burglar picked on the wrong house as my friend is an ex para.He picked up a brush handle, shouted at the intruder and set of ready to do him some home made justice. He said the burglar then fled off at a speed that would have put Linford Christi to shame.
What is going wrong with this island. When I first come here you could leave your doors open and the keys in your car without any problems. :(

Is this burglary in Cyprus?

If so, do you have an area where it happened?

It's not Cyprus that changed, it's the world that is changing all the time and not for the better.

It's just that in the opening post, there was no mention of it being in Cyprus!

I was brought up on an island for the most of my life, and it was the same.

That reminds me of many years ago when I was helping my hubby deliver manifestos. I came across one gate with a sign on it. It was a photo of an alsatian with the words "can you run 50 yards in less than 20 seconds? She can."

We had four lads drive slowly passed our place the other day which is unusual as we live off the beaten track. They did a U turn and disappeared. May have seen the Burglar Alarm, Security Cameras and PIR Lighting and maybe out for a drive but at least anyone passing can see the house is protected. We also paid for the high strength door locks and patio door pins to be fitted; can't be too security conscious.

I have read accounts recently of groups of burglaries/car break ins and car thefts in Universal, Chloraka and Peyia. A couple of years ago it was the Tala-Kamares area that was being targeted but that was by an organised gang rather than the individuals who are doing it this time. One person was apprehended at the time and I have seen footage of other incidents so it does pay to have extra security measures in place.

Whenever you see something suspicious , ring the police and tell them, they need our help as much as we need theirs
