Sunscreen query

Just before we came to Cyprus eight years ago, I discovered a marvellous sunscreen product called Headblade “Headshade”, which is a spray (SPF 15) for the head and scalp. It was totally effective, and literally disappeared a few seconds after application. I need protection on the top of my head, and cannot wear a hat in this climate. Unfortunately this product was discontinued and I have just finished my last bottle. I am bereft.

I have researched other (apparently) non-oily and non-greasy sprays but, almost without exception, they leave the hair greasy or they cannot be posted to Cyprus.

Has anyone come across a sunscreen spray that may be fit for purpose? I have never had a burnt scalp since arriving here and I don’t want to risk going out unprotected. Many thanks.

I'm afraid I always go for a hat, I'm afraid. I have an old faithful Indiana Jones hat I ordered from the States several years ago. This is now past its prime, so I bought a new one last year. This was from Amazon:

They have a load of sizes, and the hats are comfortable. Worth considering if you have no joy on the lotion front.

Thanks for that. I know people swear by hats but I have never been able to get on with them.

The headlube I understand is a cream and I am trying to avoid creams as they all seem to make hair greasy.

You might try Actinica - available in pharmacies in CY and on Amazon UK.

It is primarily for preventing BCC's (basal cell carcinoma), which my wife had and this was recommended by her plastic surgeon. I use it on my face and head, too and it's a non-greasy spray. Very comfortable to use.

If your bald, then you really should use a 50 protection in this sunshine,from someone who has had to a couple of nasty spots cut from the top of my head, always wear a baseball cap now, even in the pool or sea.

Frezyderm! Made in Greece, sold in Cyprus. SP 50. Not a spay. Pump action for face but should be O.K. for the head. Non greasy, long lasting and doesn't "melt" when it gets hot. Expensive but a little goes online. I believe it can be bought online from pharmacies. I first got it in Boots several years ago. It was £25. They discontinued it, probably because people didn't want to pay that amount, so I was pleased to find it here. Can't remember where I got my last one!

Perhaps a bandanna or the old handkerchief with a knot at each corner? Yes, I have seen both in Paphos but can remember days out at the beach when I was a child and it was popular with the men.

Absorbs the sweat and perhaps better than putting a cream on the scalp area which can cause inflammation or dermatitis.

Many thanks for all responses - both sensible and slightly less so. Hats and bandanas and handkerchiefs are not viable. I found one highly recommended sunscreen spray but it was only on sale in the USA. It weighed 276g and postage was a mind-boggling $47. The search continues ...

Hi, I have had skin cancer, Malignant Melanoma so must use sun protection so I use Boots once face cream on my face and head, it's SPF 30 and soaks in like a moisturizer, not oily or greasy and it lasts 8 hours so it's only once a day.

Protects my skin and keeps it nice and soft. I don't know if you can get it in Cyprus, I always get it at the UK airport but I know Boots do deliver in UK so perhaps you could have it forwarded.
