Happy Easter everyone, even under the circumstances..

Post by cyprusmax47 »

I wish everyone Happy Easter and for those not able to visit Cyprus at the moment a impression of yesterday's sunrise... it is quite moody but then it was Good Friday.

We're celebrating this weekend. Well, we are having our eggs. Unless you are Greek Orthodox, Easter is this sunday.

So thank you Max, and Happy Easter to you too.

We also celebrate both Easter celebrations and feel a bit miffed when they are occasionally fall on the same date as it means one hot cross bun and one Easter Bunny each instead of two.

Interestingly the Anglican Church in Cyprus decided a while ago that they would celebrate Easter on Sunday 19 April, the same date as the Orthodox Easter this year, but we shall abide by the UK date which is this weekend.

''Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter
We now know that the Orthodox Easter may well be postponed until May. However, Archbishop Michael has asked that we continue with his earlier suggestion namely that we celebrate Easter on Sunday 19th April (Sunday week)''.

I hope you and your family are having not only eggs... :) :) as nice chocolate is also very popular at Easter with the side effect that it is very mood-lifting. I am glad having still a good stock of 70-80% dark chocolate bars as well as chocolate mousse from Italy (a shot of scotch on top is delicious) in the house.......... :x ;)

I didn´t even know that there is an Anglican church in Cyprus. Anyway, does anyone know why the dates of Easter vary between the Orthodox and the other Christioan churches?
