Unbelievable Lidl advertisement

Post by MacManiac »

I couldn’t quite believe my ears yesterday. We were listening to a UK radio station (I think Gold Oldies) and one of the many government advertisements encouraging/instructing people to stay inside to stay safe was broadcast. Fair enough - but the very next advertisement was from Lidl suggesting that people prepared for a sun-filled weekend by getting the barbecue out and chilling beers in the fridge ... all of which you could buy at Lidl.

There seems to be a lot of adverts on the TV that aren't appropriate for the current situation but if they are pre paid then I expect that the TV/Radio station is obliged to run them.

Exactly ... just waiting for Mrs B to finish chatting with her parents on the phone, then off to the garage to find the BBQ.
Gonna be a massive party here with the two of us, a couple of Tsipoura and maybe share a beer.
Happy days!

I've twice bbqed Chunky Pork Chops during the lockdown. Bloody lovely they are too. The second time, I could see a rainstorm coming in over the fields but it didn't phase me. I just rigged up a roof and carried on. With lemon juice at hand to keep the pork on its toes, they come up a treat.

The ads I find odd are the ones for the Olympics.

Try giving them a dry rub with smoked paprika, gives bbq meats a nice kick

I’ve never thought of using lemon juice when cooking pork chops. But rubbing them with smoked paprika sounds interesting. I have rubbed some BBQ sauce on grilled meats which is also very tasty.
