I want to pay tax, but cant
I want to pay tax, but cant
I keep looking for the 2019 declaration on taxisnet, but 2019 is still not available for completion.
I went to the JCC site, but cannot find a way of paying tax without having completed self assessment, unless anyone knows a way around this.
I am aware the government has extended the deadline for payment by 3 months.........but my payment is in the bank ready to go now, I am sure the Cypriot tax authority needs money now.
I want to pay to do my little bit to help out.
Can it be done???

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
I cannot see how you can pay tax for 2019 when you have not filled in a form because they are not available yet. You just need to be patient ..

The government here never seem desperate for your money from my experience!
Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Im in the same boat Mark. If you do not pay the temp tax during the year you have to wait for the tax return forms to be available.

Thanks for the replies.
My S1 is in Nicosia, but have heard that pensioners who registered with Gesy, but without submitting an S1, will be charged for Gesy until such times as the S1 is received.
I am aware that some pensioners were accepted for Gesy without an S1,they may be in for a shock when they fill their return. (Which is mandatory for us all) current taxpayers or not, as the Gesy contribution is on 100% of income.

Apologies Mikemike strand2 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 7:57 pm Here we go again, "have heard" Rumours, rumours.......
This is not a rumour, the S1 is the only accepted proof that you are a pensioner and entitled to free health care....fact
Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Most pensioners hold (or held) a medical card issued by the Cyprus authorities .... On this card it stated that it is issued because the holder has or had and E121 certificate. This can only be gained via an S1. So they know you have had an S1 if you have a medical card

But the S1 succeeded the E121, which is no longer valid, compare it to the old yellow slip in Cyprus, which is now worthless.
For anyone without an S1, I would urge them to get one ASAP.
Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
I should add that when registering for Gesy online, I had to send an S1 to Nicosia.
Many people registered with private hospitals with the medical card and were accepted, but not for tax purposes,......get an S1, a fairly simple process.

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Do you have to register with a private hospital to be able to use it?

Mark.. Re your comment " compare it to the old yellow slip in Cyprus, which is now worthless. "
Which Yellow slip is it, that is now Worthless ?.. Does it have a reference number ?

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Our E121 was accepted when we originally applied for the Cyprus Medical Card some years ago.
It was also accepted when we registered with GESY last year even though GESY only referred to the S1.
This is an email which I believe a member of this forum received regarding contributions payable to GESY and ties in with an earlier comment:
“After our telephone conversation, we would like to inform you that you will have to send an email to Mr. Soteris Stratis to the following email [email protected] informing him that you are S1 holders. You will then be informed about a relevant certificate which you will be able to present it wherever it is needed so that you do not have to contribute for GHS purposes. Thank you for contacting us, we remain at your disposal. GHS Contact Centre” .
We duly sent the email and each received a document in each name stating that as we had ''submitted the document S1 (E121, E106, E109) in accordance with the provision of the European Regulation'' ........... ''the above mentioned person is not subjected to pay the contributions according to the General Health System Law of 2001''.

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
As Mark mentioned earlier, many people went to a private clinic and were registered with a Personal Doctor and were only asked to produce their Passport and MEU1 or MEU3 Yellow Slip in order to facilitate the process. At least one clinic took the forms to Nicosia to speed up the registration process.
As a S1 holder (or in our case an E121 holder) if they have not submitted the email I have described in the above post, as far as the tax system is concerned, they are liable to pay contributions.

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Hi Trev
It is confusing, I now have 3 yellow slips, the first of which at the time was supposedly the only one I would ever need! Not true, it has been superseded by MEU 2 then 3.
I am guessing that you have not applied for an S1, please get it as you may be liable for tax without it.
Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
I went from the Brown Alien Book with the photo stapled onto it to the MEU1 when it was introduced and after 5 years to the MEU3. Only the MEU1 and MEU3 are accepted now by the authorities, hence the huge number of applications for MEU3 last year from people who had pink slips, permanent visas in their Passports, Brown Alien Book etc.
Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
Mark, both my wife and I have a MEU1.. We both have a Cyprus Medical card supplied via an E121 (it is printed on the card)Mark wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2020 9:54 pmHi Trev

Re: I want to pay tax, but cant
You are indeed covered Trev, apologies if I got it wrong, I suspect however, that many do not have these safeguards, hence my comments.
