5G v Fibreoptic

Post by The Aquila » Thu Feb 18, 2021 10:06 pm

With emergence of 5G mobile technology, will this overtake the need for fibre-optic landlines?

Fibre-optic won’t be in many villages until 2023 but 5G is already here for some hands sets and others are being certified imminently.

Are there major benefits of fibre-optic over 5G for small business / home use?

Few operators will offer Quality of Service on mobile, without paying a Lot more

Fibre can go to Gigabit (and beyond if into the premises)

5G is averaging about 200Mb/s - where decent signal is received
