Lucky enough I had my camera already on my lap when suddenly this nice hoopoe landed near the pool and I was able to photograph, before this very shy bird disappeared again...It was 6.15 this morning and the sun was very weak and blurred, hence not too bad the contrast...Unfortunately he must have seen me moving or the camera click make him go. Anyhow better than nothing as it is my first photo from that species which made my day.

What an amazing looking bird, he is stunning, I am so glad you managed to get a picture especially if they are shy birds, he looks very regal, I am looking forward to seeing the different kinds of birds in Cyprus.

Its a hoopooh (?). I once had three of them at the same time in my garden in Dubai.

We saw the Black Cap again in the flowers opposite us. Loved the picture of the Hoopooh.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Lovely shot, Max. We have a couple of hoopoes in our valley, hope it's a breeding pair.
