Paphos Chinese Garden Revisited

Post by Dominic »

Last year we reported on the new Chinese Playground that had been built in Paphos. If you remember it featured twelve statues symbolising the various years in the Chinese Calendar. We were recently passing, and decided to see how it was getting on.

Sad, the playground has been vandalised. Perhaps its the same mindless individuals with nothing better to do who go around Paphos and sometimes villages with their cans of spray paint, defacing garden walls, and various road signs....

A lady posted time-dated photos yesterday showing significant damage to these animal structures within a few weeks of the park opening. She said this was due to cracks to the structures caused by excessive watering of the grass and in her opinion the material used for these structures were bad quality. So the original damage does not appear to be vandalism and it seems they were left like that in an unsafe state to deteriorate further.

What a shame. The Cyprus climate is very unforgiving to any things which are left outside and exposed to the weather, with its various extremes with heat and humidity and the power of the sun.
