Re: Hurricane

The word hurricane is derived from the Caribbean God of Evil 'Huracan'.

The word typhoon is a European translation of ancient Chinese (something like) Tung Feng meaning east wind.
At least that's how I remember it.

Re: Any gardening expert?

Cut the shrub down close to the soil and then cover the ground with a transparent sheet (plastic) weighing down all around to prevent it being blown away. The heat from the sun will kill any bugs, spores or pests in the soil and also prevent any new growth from the shrubs roots as the excessive heat...

Another New Ryan Air Baggage Policy

It won't suit everyone but suits me if I read it right. Normally if in the UK I bring a 20k bag to Cyprus for £25 but to get that bag back to the UK costs another £25 even tho it might be empty. I've got about 6 cases in a bedroom as I wont pay £25 to take an empty bag back, They dont cost that much...

Re: New Petrol Station near Kathikas

Excellent news for me. EKO is the only brand of fuel I use due to the extra filtration of the diesel. Now they're even more local I just hope that the prices remain competitive with the EKO stations in Peyia.

We were due to be on a BA flight that was cancelled according to BA for weather reasons. I still put in a claim and 2 weeks later received €600.

Check this web site out and claim anyway, nothing to lose as it's all free.

Try Privesports in Nicosia (https://www.privesports.com.cy/en/home)If they can get them they'll deliver to Polis via ACS.
They sell the brand but not sure about just laces or try Sozos in Paphos.

Re: Speed Bumps - Refurbishment

The standard of driving in Cyprus is certainly no worse than the UK. if anything it is far better. Mutch less road rage, the problem is mainly caused by drivers that are far to impatient and cannot envisage the movement of other drivers. A result of driving in too much of a hurry. Take your time the...

Looks like a redwood to me. I have one at my UK house (Canadian Redwood), 45ft at the moment can grow 60 ft easily. many different varieties but produce very good acidic compost from their leaves.

You can always take your car (if you can get it started) to Halfords and they will sort you out. They guarantee to fit the correct replacement and will dispose of your old battery.

Re: How to contact Avast

I took Avast off 5 computers 12 months ago.
Installed Panda free version and the difference is superb. Get 1 unobtrusive pop up monthly and no computer lag that I had when using Avast.
Panda has worked for me and quarantined 2 potential viruses.
