It doesn't come as any surprise, given they said yesterday that a metal bar broke or was broken on the boat....

This from Reuters today as reported via In-Cyprus news: Air travel across the Gulf region and beyond faces major disruption following the move by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain to sever ties with Qatar, accusing the tiny oil rich state of supporting terrorism. Saudi ...

Re: Another terrorist attack in London last night.

Back on Topic: London bridges ugently require traffic / pedestrian seperation using Armco Barriers down each kerbside. Relatively inexpensive and could be installed in a week. I'm amazed this wasn't implemented after the previous Westminster Bridge cowardly atrocity. Also, have Police checkpoints o...

Interesting comments regarding the Q'uran..... Being a total atheist and disregarding any religious indoctrination, a friend of mine has been having a conversation with a number of others on her social media page about Muslims, their beliefs and trying to explain it is not all Muslims who are attack...

But there was such a post, not in this thread..... As I already indicated.

You chose to ignore it along with everyone else. So we must assume thereof that it wasn't so important to you either.

Fines for employers for undeclared workers - also affects self-employed

About time they started to clamp down on it.... so, if you're employed ensure your SI deductions are being credited to your account. If not, you need to know why and get something done about it, quickly! If there are no SI deductions being taken from your salary - you should be worried. Go and get i...

Re: NHS in Great Britain

Because I don't see it as being an "emergency"......

I'm using the 12 hour Voltarol cream and have done so for several weeks but when this lot is finished, I'm not buying any more. If it gets too bad then - I will make the call.

Re: NHS in Great Britain

I'm currently in the process of "testing" the system here..... The medical centre was one of the victims of the recent cyber attack and they still haven't been able to retrieve all the files back from the hospital records plus they are 4 doctors down at the surgery. There are over 11,000 p...

Re: Divine retribution?

Norv, that was a point I made in an earlier post. Just two days ago 90 innocent men, women and children were blown to smithereens in Kabul, with a further 300 seriously injured. Didn't even rate a mention on an ex-pat forum  Actually, I posted about an earlier attack on families and children...

I can only eat it grilled, I don't like it if it's uncooked.

Re: Quote of the week

Well the audience certainly seemed to find it amusing..... And poor Amber Rudd ended up standing at the debate in place of Theresa May just 3 days after losing her father, which makes it more apparent why the other speakers were mightily miffed about her failure to attend. Our current PM apparently ...

A couple of points when searching to see if foxes are classed as vermin.... the Masters of Foxhounds Association & Foundation says that “because there is no rabies in the British Isles, populations of fox are extremely high and fox are considered vermin”. Conversely, and closer to home, DEFRA ha...

I'm not a fan either.... our old dog used to have a neckerchief and when we took the one he was wearing off to be washed, he used to stand and wait for a clean one to be tied on. Then he would run up and down the yard as happy as Larry with it (Larry was our landlord from next door). But that's as f...

At least I'm not in that category.... I may not be employed but that's my personal choice even though I'm not officially retired, I'm definitely not too fat! Still a UK size 10 jeans wearer (or an 8 if you shop in Marks & Sparks) at 5' 7" tall and coming up to 59yrs of age. My recent health...

Re: Estate agents fees!

It's usually a 6 month contract.... and yes, they all want 5% and will generally want you to provide all the info on your property and preferably, the photos too! And by the way, if you can just call into the office and sign the contract, that's great - because we don't need to get off our backsides...
