Re: Reintroducing mandatory use of face masks in certain sectors a possibility
Yioula, yes, we are in Penrhyn Bay. I think I probably caught it either at the airport or on the plane. We spent 5 hours at Paphos Airport on Friday and another 5 hours on Saturday as the airport refused to put back the checkin times, even though they knew our flight was delayed. We were all escorted...

Re: Reintroducing mandatory use of face masks in certain sectors a possibility
2.5 years in Cyprus and we avoided catching covid. Flew back on Saturday (supposed to be Friday but flight cancelled but that is a different story) Did a big shop in Asda on Monday and during Monday night had the first symptoms. Cold, high temperature. Lateral flow shows a positive result. Rosemary ...

Re: British TV reception this afternoon
Firestick and SmartDNS is the best system we have had. We use an Amazon TV stick and watch UK tv as we would at home, with very little buffering. Also we have a paid for, dodgy tv service on our fire stick for the little sport that we watch. Smart DNS give you a free, 14 day trial. It is part of the...

Re: Good news for people installing photo-voltaic systems....
As long as they are producing around the same as previous years I would not bother pay for a company to clean them. If you paid €25 to get them cleaned, they would have to produce a lot of electric to get your money back. Our production, with dirty panels, is only just down on last years.

Re: Cost of new A/C units
Mark, have a word with Greenair. We had our LG units fitted by them. They work really well. The main filter is at the top and really does catch the dust, therefore needs frequent cleaning. Really easy to remove, and we vac ours and then wash and dry before fitting. The fins are easily cleaned with a...

Re: Good news for people installing photo-voltaic systems....
As people know, I can vouch for Greenair and it is good news that you can install a system to cover all of your needs. I would also hope that EAC is sensitive to situations where people are converting from oil or gas for heating to electricity and let you install systems over the 100% of present nee...

Re: UK Disabled badges. Are they still valid in Cyprus?
Found the answer on the Paphos Chat Facebook page by going to the Questions Section and doing a search. This from BHC. We are pleased to announce that the UK & #Cyprus have reached a reciprocal agreement to recognise Blue Badge Holders #UKCYties 🇬🇧🇨🇾 . This means that your UK-issued Blue Badge w...

UK Disabled badges. Are they still valid in Cyprus?
Did a search before asking this question. Are UK disabled badges still valid in Cyprus? I would imagine they still are but just want to check. Haven't seen the friendly policeman down at the harbour recently so couldn't ask him.

Re: Does your last EAC bill looks wiggy?
Our meter man arrives more or less, on the same day every two months. We have never had an estimated bill. Last bill, €32, which was the same as last year even though we had used more electricity. 106 kwh through the meter and 295 solar units. If we had not had pv panels and net metering our bill wo...

Re: PV panels and SolarEdge
Here in Paphos, Greenair installed our neighbour's panels within 3 weeks of the initial visit from Christos. This was in December. They dealt with all of the paperwork. From the initial visit at the beginning of December, her panels were live on the 30th January, when EAC finally inspected.

Re: PV panels and SolarEdge
At this time of the year, between 40% and 60% of your electricity that you use will be from your pv panels. The solar edge app shows you how much you have produced. Your meter shows how much you have exported to the grid. The difference between the 2 is how much solar energy you have used. For examp...

Re: Clampdown coming on traffic violations by drivers of rentals
When our daughter passed her test in the UK her driving instructor told her not to put P plates on her car, as it encouraged bullying from irresponsible car drivers. Don't really know how to say this as I hate generalising. However, single, male 20 to 60 year old drivers in red plate cars, tearing a...

Re: AIK Net Metering Bill
Our meter hasn't been read yet. However, I calculated that we gave back 100 kwh at the last bill, so it will be good to see these units added to our bank. With the cold March, we were in minus territory for most of March and have just over 300 kwh in the bank at the moment whereas by this time last ...

Re: Does 2nd Booster show on EUDCC - Cyprus CovPass?
We had to show ours at our doctors, We Care, this week. Really impressed with the service. We are Gesy registered. Blood tests at 8am. Results sent by email by 12noon and telephone consultation with doctor to discuss them. Plus it was a full blood test whereas when I have my yearly one in the UK it ...

Re: Pool Heating Season 21/22
Thanks Max. I posted the same post onto Facebook and got a lot of reaction. I think it is important to inform people that a heated pool need not be a luxury and expensive to heat. Why have a pool when you can only use it for 5 or 6 months of the year. A solar pool cover will extend the swimming seas...

Nice to see you back Hudswell. According to one site, the epicentre was above Episkopi, in the hills between there and Tsada, so fairly close to us in Anarita. We have only felt the main tremor and it was nowhere near as bad as the erthquake a few years ago, on a Wednesday morning, when we were goin...

Re: Earthquake
Felt quite a big one. Dog hid behind the settee about ten minutes before, which is most unlike her, then came back on the settee just before it struck. Whole house shook for around 10 seconds and suspended light fittings were swaying, but not quite as bad as the one on a Wednesday afternoon a few ye...
