Re: PREMIUM BONDS
Revolut would count as a UK bank account, having a sort code and account number, if that is at all helpful.

It was a great show and the organisers are to be congratulated. There were a lot more people when I visited rather later on.

Re: New York Apts
Obviously the behaviour can't be condoned. However, around the same time, dairy farmers poured milk over the streets outside the presidential palace, piled hay against the gates and set fire to it, and allegedly tried to ram the gates. A few broken chairs isn't really on the same level, but seems to...

Re: A 360 Drive Through Mandria Music Festival
Great video, but you should have stopped at the music festival and joined hundreds of people for a fun 9 hours of live music.
Great bands such as The Sea Gypsies, The Elderly Brothers, and Too Hot For Red, just to mention 3. Good times, and well done Mandria.

I bet the Kissonerga Muchtar knows, as they are on his patch. Perhaps someone on here who lives in the village could ask him.

Text from Infosys.
I received a text from Infosys today acknowledging my order and providing a web address to click on. Needless to say, I haven't placed an order and it's obviously a scam. If you get something similar, don't click on the link and add the sender to your blocked list. I did think it may be Rishi Sunak ...

Re: Petrol station attendants
It's not unusual for a single attendant to be at a station on a Sunday, with everything else closed. Neither is it unusual for them to be sat in their car when waiting for customers. The petrol stations find an attendant on duty is preferable to receiving numerous call-outs from people who can't wor...

Re: Major problem with Wise (previously named Transferwise)
Thanks Photolady. You may all be interested that my account has been unblocked today. Only 15 days of me not being able to access my money. I did manage to speak to someone in the end (the system happily informed me the current wait was 80 minutes so I gritted my teeth). She was a sweet young woman ...

Re: Major problem with Wise (previously named Transferwise)
Thanks. Still no unblocking of my money as yet, and have not been able to speak to anyone. I have managed to get something from my pension provider and have sent it to them but they happily state that it takes 3 days for them to act on it. You assume right in that all my pension goes into Wise. As a...

I can't see Chloraka, Lemba and Emba either. The original plan was for them to be part of Peyia Municipality, so I assume they are staying as they are with their own Community Councils.

Major problem with Wise (previously named Transferwise)
Having previously used Wise as my bank account, I now have severe doubts regarding this company. I have my monthly pension paid into my account, and have done for a couple of years or so. I have now been asked for proof of the origin of these funds with my latest payment "paused". I sent m...

Re: External Wall Problem
Ever wondered why the really old properties in the UK don't have this problem? The secret is not to use paint. There is no paint that is breathable, despite the adverts, and water build up blows the paint and breaks up the surface. Instead use lime mortar instead of cement mortar or filer, and limew...

Re: British Residents Lose Their Right To Vote
Lets get real on this. Who can vote, and in what elections, is covered by the Cyprus written constitution. If the government wanted to change this, it would involve parliamentary committees, parliament itself, the President, the Attorney General and the Supreme Court. It would likely take years, if ...

Re: Lidl and Superhome Centre to open in old Orphanides Mall ??
That, together with the suggestion of underground parking (which doesn't exist at the moment), means complete demolition and new-build in my view. So what happened to the underground parking that was there when I used to shop at Orphanides and the adjacent shoe shop? Um, well that's embarrassing. I...
