Re: Impressive Paphos rivers

I would not try to reach Xyliatos dam using the roads around Kyperounda as there are too many rockfalls and these roads were closed the last days. If you are so desperate I would drive from the other side of Troodos mountains (Nicosia side) via Ayia Marina, Xyliatos. I was there 2 month ago and the...

Re: Impressive Paphos rivers

I went to Aga Vavara last Sunday and crossed that section of the Ezousa, though I couldn't get much further down the track because of the mud …………… wouldn't like to try it now! Unlike at Xeros river, there was no police tape telling people the road was closed, but I doubt anyone would want to cross...

Re: Impressive Paphos rivers

Thanks for posting these. Can't believe how much they have changed in 48 hours. I know, right? I took a photo of the Diarizos river from the same place on Sunday and although there was plenty of water it was nothing like this! I was pleased I managed to go out and see them yesterday, as it really w...

Wow Max, stunning skyscapes!

I've never seen a rainbow in such dark skies before, they're incredible pics, though wish I'd seen it for myself

Impressive Paphos rivers

I took a sneaky long lunch break from work today to have a look at our rivers after all that rain (according to the Cyprus Mail it was the most rain in 24 hours in 30 years). Xeros river (at the Nata-Choletria bridge - after bursting its banks) X1c.jpg X2c.jpg x4e.jpg Diarizos river at Kouklia: D1d....

Re: Mavrokolympos just overflowed!

I've just come across a video of Xyliatou dam (Nicosia district I think) overflowing. It looks stunning (more so that Asprokremos did when it overflowed). If you're interested and on Facebook, search for @DepartmentOfForests, at the moment it's at the top of the page. If you scroll down a little the...

That's ok, I'll be stuck in the office then. But first I do need at least one weekend day when it's not raining and hopefully with a bit of sun. :D

Re: Birds stolen from statue.

This makes me very sad. I know the level of graffiti here has really increased in recent years, but I am still very surprised by this vandalism. As Smudger said, it's a terrible shame.

Thanks for all your interesting blogs Dominic. Always good to get inspiration for days out or see how others have viewed places I've been too.

Happy new year :D

Re: What's my name

In my experience these spiders hardly move, once they find a spot they like they're there for weeks, just moving at night to spin their web. Which is fine with me, they're welcome in my garden.

That said, I'm sure today's rain would have made it go and find somewhere dry!

Re: Agriculture Minister: Akamas National Park to be ready in 2022

I think I wouldn't mind paying if it stayed the same as it is now (well, ok, I wouldn't mind a road that I would feel brave enough to drive on to get to the Blue Lagoon but that's it). But with building 83 km of road network (???!!!!) and 14 visitor centres, there's no chance it is going to stay the...

That is such sad news. I was wondering if he was ok since I couldn't remember him posting for some time. Glad he managed this trip to Paphos earlier this year.
