Re: Photovoltaics, is this comment true
Totally agree Wensbry. We had a 5kwh system fitted, plus later an ultra violet pool steriliser which, to be fully effective and to cut down significantly on chemical use, needed to be running for longer periods. One pool technician even suggested 12 hours a day. That would have eaten into our solar ...

Re: Photovoltaics, is this comment true
Neighbours have recently installed a 10kw system and have just been connected to the grid. Another neighbour had a 5kwh system installed in December and was connected to the grid at the end of January. Both systems installed with GreenAir. Neither would have been able to install such systems using t...

Re: Coronavirus: Cabinet approves fourth dose amid surge in cases (update 2)
We are still being very careful. Going shopping when the shops are quieter. Lidl today at 8am, just after the school children rush, followed by Alpha Mega. Still doing big shops, which we never used to do in Cyprus, so will not need to go again for a couple of weeks at least. Even if we were in the ...

Re: Temperature drops to 1 C tonight
Our house is not insulated and has alluminium windows which can cause huge condensation problems. On the extremely cold nights we run our new aircon units and keep them on low (18c) all night which solves the condensation problems on the windows and north facing walls. During the day, the sun is now...

Re: Temperature drops to 1 C tonight
Certainly the longest cold spell we have ever experienced here. Plus, our Phase 3 electric is off, but it only affects the plug sockets in the bedrooms and our invertor, which hasn't produced anything today. Ringing Green Air in the morning. However, only used 25kwh in the last 24 hours to heat our ...

Re: Customs at Paphos airport - On items from UK
We've been here permanently since covid. Original bedlinen 17 years old and although only used for around half of the year, had deterioated, especially the elasticated fitted sheets as the elastic had rotted. We just got a big order from Marks UK. They promise no customs charges and free delivery fo...

Thanks Max for sharing. Weather so very different from last year. You'll have to start posting your pics on the Paphos Life Facebook page, as they would reach a wider audience. When I first registered with facebook I used an email address which I rarely use and a lot of my teacher friends do not use...

Re: Mid March and winter moods...
Max. Solar Edge are monitoring our invertor at the moment, so our production figures are inaccurate. That, however, is the advantage of buying from a firm like Green Air. If something goes wrong, they will sort it out immediately. I think it might be a fault with our voltage from EAC on Line 3 but I...

Re: Tableware
When we furnished our house 16 years ago, there was not the choice that there is today. Most of our pots, pans and cutlery came from what was then, Chris's Cash n Carry, later Carrefoure and now Skevetis, on Mesogi Ave(Polis Road) Just got rid of the everyday wine glasses we bought from there and rep...

Re: Mid March and winter moods...
Green Air replaced all of the original air con units with new, LG invertor ones which have a 10 year guarantee on the invertor. They are really quiet and efficient. Last night, again extremely cold, and down to 2c here in Anarita, we used 37.6 kwh from 5pm till 8am this morning, and that included co...

Re: Mid March and winter moods...
We ran all of our aircon units last night when asleep, set at 18c in all rooms. Have kept the ones in unused rooms at 18c and the main one in the open plan dining lounge area at 25c, which has maintained a temperature of 21c in the dining area. Luckily, our net metering spare units have not been tak...

Re: Crockerall...Amazing.
Our cockerall is about two hundred metres away, as the crow flies. We used to live in Norden, so it was fairly quiet but, when we sold up in Norden, we rented a flat at the bottom of Edenfield Road, near the stadium, and even though the flats were set back from the main road,it was really noisy. The...

Re: Crockerall...Amazing.
Unlike the cockerall that lives near us that does not know the time and can crow at any time of the day or night. We also have the church bells, early on Sunday morning, numerous dogs barking and the early morning bugle from the army camp. But, it is all part of village life and we wouldn't swap it ...

Re: Strange Phone Call....Spam?
Had one today on my Cyprus phone, which we very rarely use. Recorded message, in an American accent, saying my social security had been hacked and there was fraudulent activity on my account, and, a warrant had been issued for my arrest. Still waiting for the police to come round and arrest me. Did ...

Re: Old Town Toilets..
Down at the seafront, there were no public toilets open from Gerriskipou Beach to the harbour. The new ones, at Municipal Beach, were locked. There were a couple, who had been in the sea and were getting changed, who were desperate to use them, as was I. I asked if I could go into the new taverna, a...

Re: Big food price rises over the last month
Two weeks now we have not bought a lettuce. Iceberg lettuce in Lidl, usually from Greece were not very good and then, when we went to Alpha Mega, there were no lettuce, only the bags of mixed leaves. So, on the days we have had salad, it has been minus lettuce. Bit like school dinners, when we used ...
