I like your style Dominic.
Actually I didn't bother with the beer much, as the music was the thing for me. As far as I could see, there were the usual local suspects and some Greek ones. Nothing to get excited about. As I said, it was the music that mattered.

Re: Cremations in Cyprus still far off
So it has been possible to build a crematorium here for the last two years. That's strange, as I seem to recall everyone blaming the church and the government for the lack of progress.
What happened to those screaming to be allowed to build one?

Chloraka beer festival.
I went along to this at the weekend (well, it was free) , and what a great evening. There must have been a couple of thousand there and the beer was not the main attraction. That label fell to the music, particularly the Nicosia rock band Minus One who were excellent. Some of their own material, som...

I have pension income only, and just don't pay it. I haven't filled in a form or anything, and the tax office are happy with this.

Re: Paphos seeks to tackle visual pollution
Be nice if the “Golden Arches” and a certain three letter chicken outlet could be removed. They are a real eyesore and unfortunately visible for miles The "three letter chicken outlet" have had to reduce the height of their main sign significantly in recent months. What annoys me is their...

Great initiative. Perhaps they could start with "bar street". It is just a load of empty premises and burnt out bars (with the odd exception of course).

Re: Cyprus Endgame
It all depends on the UN. If they start running down the number of UN staff sitting between the two sides, forcing the two sides to actively engage with each other on things like police and air traffic control, then perhaps they are right. If the UN decide to keep things as they are, then things wil...

Re: MEU3.marraige certificate."Apostile"??
There are a few tangible benefits for MEU3 holders. One is that they are eligible for subsidies the same as Cypriots on things such as photo-voltaic installations. Other benefits are less tangible. An example is that you can't be deported unless you commit a very serious crime. MEU1 holders can be d...

Re: The European Citizens Initiative
I think it is fair to say that those of us who are married to non-EU citizens know the system only too well. When my non-EU wife goes to the UK she has to have her fingerprints checked, is questioned about her stay, and visa scrutinised, while the EU citizens just stream past her in the next queue. ...

Re: Cyprus Permanent Residency
Personally I wouldn't recommend laminating. It is better to keep it in a transparent plastic pocket (the sort that is designed for a ring binder). This is so it can be removed when asked by the police etc.

Re: Imperial System making a comeback?
JK is that the same young people that cannot read an analog clock and an exam board had to stop the exam and change the clocks to digital ones? Yes, those are the ones. The ones that no longer use log tables or a slide rule, the ones who don't know how to make up emulsion paint from powder, the one...

Josef "Yearn for a past that never was", what on earth are you talking about ? We did have a past, and it was much better than the youth of today have, believe me, I was there. Metric ? we have always bought a half of or a dozen eggs, still do. Jackie Of course you had a past, as did I. H...

Re: Imperial System making a comeback?
Its only old people who get excited about imperial measurements. You know the ones, those who yearn for a past that never was. The young people of today are metric through and through. There is much talk of the UKs future trading arrangements. We must use the same system of measurements as everyone ...

To get back to reality, why not just take leaves from the nearest grapevine? Asking the owner first of course.

I reported a fault on my landline last week. As it was the afternoon the pleasant customer service bod suggested they might not be able to fix it until the morning. First thing the next day a pleasant and knowledgeable tech arrived and fixed it. Not only that but he moved my service from the PSTN to...

Why do the staff in the Kato Paphos Ocean Basket always look so miserable? Not a smile in sight from any of them (apart from the manager).

"Microsoft" scam - again.
Had a call today from "Josef at the Windows Service Centre". I didn't let him get further than that brief intro. Yes, they are at it again. Scammers pretending to be Microsoft attempting to get your bank information. Please note, Microsoft will never ring you. Just put the phone down.
