Re: executor of will
What are the fees, is it a percentage of the estate? Looks like the new legislation has removed the right of lawyers to charge a % of the estates value, so it'll now be priced like any other piece of work for legal advice. The key is for the executor to scope out the work required and get a couple ...

Re: executor of will
Yes obviously changed since we did our will, but still can't see the point of appointing a named solicitor to be executor, even if they are now more likely to behave themselves when it comes to the fees.

Re: executor of will
We were told not to appoint a lawyer as executor via the will, as the scale of charges are already set as a percentage of the estate and are excessive. Appoint a trusted family member who can then engage the services of a lawyer (probably one on the British Consul recommended list) and get them to q...

Re: Altitude sickness tablets for overseas travel
We flew to Cusco from Lima and the impact of the altitude was quite stark. I really struggled for the first few days. Tried the tea with the coca leaves which seemed to help but wished I had taken some tablets with me.

Re: Easy Jet Manchester
As a postscipt to this and in the interests of balance, I think it now fair to point out that EJ have paid us for the additional taxi fares to and from the airport and our out of pocket expenses together with the statutory compensation of £350 each. The claim process was all done via the EJ website ...

Re: Easy Jet Manchester
Yes, so have we, but they seem to be struggling at the moment, mostly due to way they are scheduling the use of the planes. As the Manchester flight leaves around 3 o clock EJ sometimes schedule the plane to do a couple of short return flights before the Paphos flight and with AIr Traffic Control re...

Re: Easy Jet Manchester
Yes I can track via FlightRadar24 the progress of the plane used on any flight and the way they allocated the workload of the plane before the Man to Paphos leg was always going to be a problem. Given that they had already been cancelling flights from here you would have thought that the operations ...

Easy Jet Manchester
After decades of trouble free flying, we experienced the hassle of a cancelled flight for the first time ever. The Paphos to Manchester EJ flight was cancelled last night (or delayed overnight, as the airline calls it). Surprisingly, that is 2 nights running (the Monday night flight was cancelled as...

Maybe be massive but your new stadium name is a trifle unfortunate. I remember the good old days when it was called the Reebok and was one of the first to sell Chicken Balti pies............delicious

Re: Explore Akamas natural wonders with free tours every Saturday
Thanks Tremigirl. I have actually found it now on the website but it is hiding behind an arrow changing the events log to June. It's not very intuitive and will be missed by most prospective attendees until I guess the front page kicks into June.
Hope you enjoy the day !!

Re: Explore Akamas natural wonders with free tours every Saturday
I don't suppose anybody has managed to book onto this tour yet. The Tourist Office in the Old Town told us to contact the Regional Board who run the Visitpahos website. When we spoke to them they said you could book it via the 'announcements, news' section on the website. Unfortunately I can't see an...

Re: Cyta - so easy
Princebytor. How strange. Like others who have posted, I checked my credit this morning and when it would run out It has been extended for the full 12 months Trev,I I think it was because I paid for a 6 mth term in Oct 23 due to expire in April 24, so I can't complain at only getting a 6 mth extens...

Re: Driving in Jordan
It's a brilliant place to visit but I am not sure I would fancy driving there. Good call to organise a driver, they'll take you all the best spots without any hassle. Don't forget the entry visa, last time we went it cost approx 50 euros payable at the airport.

Re: Paphos Smart Parking
Not sure if it helps but we use the Sodap Beach car park which no longer takes coins. We haven't mastered the app yet but we used the texting process on our Cyprus PAYG and it is now helping to bring down our ridiculously high account balance which has built over the years due to the 10 euro charge ...

Re: Cypriots have increasingly unfavourable view towards migrants, report finds
With respect it's not quite the same thing. Most of us expats, yes even us Irish, made a conscious decision to move here. Understanding that nothing is for nothing, we took care to house, feed and clothe ourselves. We are funded by our pensions, our savings, our families and that old-fashioned nons...

Re: Cypriots have increasingly unfavourable view towards migrants, report finds
It always seems bizarre to me for Brits with a Cypriot post code calling out immigrants, just because you call yourself an 'ex-pat' doesn't mean you're not an immigrant.

Re: Did I Overstay the 90 in 180 Days Rule?
As I read it you have to be absent from Cyprus for 90 days before the next period can start.Do you agree? I thought that it was a rolling 180 days, i.e. you count back from the day of your departure 180 days and you need to ensure that you have not been in Cyprus for more than 90 days in that time.

Re: Passport officers to strike for 5 weeks
It's the office that issues the passports not the Border Police that are going on strike this time........................bit difficult to get in and out of the country without a valid passport.
