Re: Vehicle checks
WHL for your information many of the Police Officers are female so your manpower word is inappropriate and you should know better. However whilst at the Police station earlier this year the issue of staffing came up and at my local Police station the staffing levels have been reduced by 50% and the ...

Re: Holiday 'police' knocking on your door:
I know someone who is currently in the UK. They purchased and the 2/8 days tests and also 5 day early release test. They were called every day until they got the results of the 5 days test, which was negative, and then they were told they were released and would no longer be called. The calls were ...

Re: Cyprus Winter Fuel Payment
Boycott Just because you are entitled to claim the payment does not mean you have to claim it living in a much warmer climate – You can’t claim it now anyway but if you could you would get a nice warm feeling inside if you donated the payment to one of the charities that look after the homeless. Th...

Re: Cyprus Winter Fuel Payment
That's a shame, thanks to all who live in Cyprus that voted leave  It seems to me that Brits can be very greedy, indeed. While thousands of people are on the streets in Britain, unable to find a place to rest their head, you get a load of Brits, living in luxury on a warm semi-tropical island...

Re: Covid Pandemic over in UK
It'd be far easier for me to point out to them that Covid killing them is a dead-cert if they're elderly and infirm and unvaccinated, rather that a half-baked denier's notion - with no evidence whatsoever to support it - that cancer "might" in 20 years time kill them. I know where my mone...

Re: Covid Pandemic over in UK
Daughter told us yesterday that she's heard of people in Cyprus who believe that because the vaccine was approved in such a short time "...how do we know it doesn't cause cancer?" Hard to credit these people have brains in their skulls. So prove to them that it does not cause cancer or wh...

Re: Flying to UK from Larnaca..
I flew back to the UK on 11th March ( and have subsequently returned to Cyprus). Unless you have pre booked your covid tests for days 2 and 8 in UK you are not allowed to board the aircraft. Check in staff at LCA carefully checked all my documentation. The tests were waiting for me at my UK house. ...

Covid Fines
Today two close friends of mine who do not live together were driving in Limassol town centre and one guy was not wearing his mask and the driver had his mask around his chin (he was vaping at the time) when they were stopped by the Police for not wearing masks. The officer never asked for any expla...

Re: Overseas Summer Holidays Extremely Unlikely This Year
I cannot give a more scientific reply for the simple reason that yours is perfectly adequate. I cannot quote the exact date but I remember during the war we had to have smallpox vaccinations and we were told then that some people got the fever but it did not cause pustules. [/quote] I wonder if thin...

Re: Parked car with driver inside falls in sea waters after brake was not pulled (PHOTOS)
As he has cost the authorities more than a pretty penny to extract his wet vehicle from the sea AND he has shown his incompetence as a driver by not setting his brake in time, maybe he can return the money in the form of a fine and show the world what a driver should not do, by serving a couple of ...

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
Despite what some may say on here the Police are active in enforcing the Covid rules (well done them I say). https://cyprus-mail.com/2021/02/28/coronavirus-restaurant-owner-party-goers-charged-in-limassol/ A restaurant owner and a group of customers and people at two birthday parties at homes, all i...

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
What is there for Police to check, other than if people carry their ID and have sent an sms (or have Form B with them)? Otherwise pretty meaningless. Wife and I were out all yesterday morning, starting with my vaccine jab. Then onto Alfa Mega. Then to the Russian fruit market. Then collect hardware...

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
Without any real searching I came across this HIC on https://in-cyprus.philenews.com/more-than-10-thousand-covid-checks-in-24-hours/?fbclid=IwAR202HtBZkq5iUzQ9TUr2qwqmijVc3ehfu5daQqYZai_0Ba1J8jPFIzhhfo So the Police it appears are out checking and enforcing and good on them for keeping us safe. Covi...

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
HIC maybe yes maybe not BUT you still cannot get round the fact what you did was against the law. The Government in their wisdom have decreed what we can and cannot do but do not make up your own rules. There are all sorts of silly rules going around, you can have so many here and there but not sit ...

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
As you know HIC the law/rules have nothing to do with common sense HOWEVER like it or not the law is the law and you should comply not do as you wish, or we will all be doing what we like and getting a much longer tightly controlled lockdown.

Re: Limassol records 70% of Cyprus' all new covid cases in past two weeks
HIC - So who is or should be enforcing the law/rules then?
If no one what is the point of them?
Why did you break the rules yourself?
