Latest Electricity Bills!

Post by GreenArmy12 »

Hi All,

I have just received the bills for the period 20 December to 20 January, for both my own property and the communal account that I manage, and am a bit surprised at the amounts this time, both bills are over 3 times the amount of theprevious two month period. The domestic bill I expected to be higher, it has been a chilly winter and there has been extra lighting, heating and water heating involved, but the amount of the increase is a bit of a shock. The communal bill is more unexpected, as this is only for the swimming pool pump, which the pool maintainers reduced the running time for in November, so I do not see how it has used three times as many Kw/hour this billing period.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
has the base price of Electricity shot up in the last few months?

I am going to see the pool company, and the Electricity folks to check these bills out, but would appreciate any explanations from you good folks as well, especially in respect of the pool bill

Thanks

Al

First thing to do is check the meter readings now. Are they all a little bit more than the numbers on the bills..

Agree with Trev, firstly check your meter readings to see if there is anything amiss! I always look at the meter around the time of the reading so I know what to expect regarding the bill! With respect to our current bill, it was approx 10% more than the same period last year which I was happy with based on the colder winter & having the heating on more!

EAC can be a week or even 10 days late in reading your meter. This can make a big difference to your bill. You end paying more than you should on the charge bands, but you will get nowhere if you complain.

From our treasurer ....

Yes! - looks like a bit of detective work might pay. The numbers for the last year are:

Dec 15 to Feb 16 € 36.36 ... 181 kWh
Feb 16 to Apr 16 € 32.19 ... 172 kWh
Apr 16 to Jun 16 € 44.30 ... 250 kWh
Jun 16 to Aug 16 € 57.02 ... 297 kWh
Aug 16 to Oct 16 € 139.54 ... 772 kWh
Oct 16 to Dec 16 € 135.08 ... 709 kWh
Dec 16 to Feb 17 € 204.01 ... 721 kWh

I think that EAC put up the price of electricty at the the start of the year. The price of electricity has gone up about €3.4%. That plus the unusually cold spell which we had after Christmas could be expensive in terms of our elec bills..

Sounds like something is very wrong…..estimated consumption bills perhaps?

From 4 Nov 2016 – 4 Jan 2017 my consumption was 856 kWh
For the same period the year before (2015 / 2016) it was 874 kWh

For this bill, 7 Jan 2017 – 3 Mar 2017 my consumption was 756 kWh
For the same period the year before (2016) it was 827 kWh

I have a pool and use a/c for heating during the winter months
What we are
What we have been
What we intend to be
is shown more in the Patience we exhibit than through any other virtue

Was it definitely a taken reading or was it an estimated reading. Many of us in Tala have just received our bills which had estimated readings.
