They’re not lies: Donald Trump wills his ‘truth’ into our reality

They’re not lies: Donald Trump wills his ‘truth’ into our reality
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... cent-peale

....For Trump, truth is subordinate to attitude, an attitude that can be modified at will. This whimsical notion comes straight from Norman Vincent Peale, an American minister and motivational speaker who was close to the Trump family, even officiating at Trump’s first marriage, with Ivana. In his 1952 bestseller, The Power of Positive Thinking, Peale presents a simple and “workable philosophy” to help people live more effective and successful lives. The technique is simple: “prayerise, visualise, actualise”. By using this technique you can overcome defeat and take control over the circumstances of your life....

Quite interesting. A sort of form of positive thinking. Almost a philosophy rather than politics...
It might be raining, but you can actualise sun. It then follows that the press are lying, when they say it rains.
Interesting, but maybe slightly worrying that this guy is now President of the USA.

Either 1. You have a very bad internet connection, or 2. I'd suggest you stop drinking for the evening. You'll then feel better in the morning.

I honestly don't think he's grasped the reality of this role of Presidency. I'm convinced he thinks he's still hosting his game show....

Even if you are right, his tactic seems to be working just fine. Getting the (promised) job done.
Geoff.
P.S. BTW the list of 7 mainly Islamic States known to produce terrorists etc was drawn up not by Mr Trump but by Mr Obama.

Agreed Geoff.

There are millions of American Trump supporters.

The recent Oscars had their worse ratings ever, as they were boycotted by Trump supporters, who are fed up of politicisation by all the luvvies.
Similar luvvies are protesting and politicising in the UK, it is only a matter of time before Jo Public tires of their antics.
American Jo Public is allready tired of the wealthy and privileged riding roughshod over what they voted for.

You should be, the luvvies are sticking there noses into areas they know little about.
They interfere, and return to there cosseted life's, content that they have helped humanity.
What happened for example to Bob Geldoff, and many other so called celebs who were going to accept refugees into there homes?

ZILCH, yet still they pontificate about Trump and any other thing they disagree with.
Hippocrates, the lot of them.

Maybe so, but I'm still not worried about the Oscars ratings....... they can make a mess of that quite easily themselves without any helping hands along the way.

Glad you agree Julie, however...

The Oscar ratings are indicative of many Trump supporters, with no clout, unlike celebs, showing there feelings and stating their disgust at celeb behaviour.

...except that he spends more time concerned with himself rather than the country. Far from getting the
job done he has so far flip-flopped on issues, lied and acted hypocritically - contrary to what he promised.
Let's see how congress deals with his plans....

Sorry but 2008 was worse and viewer numbers have declined over the last three years with this years drop
amounting to around 2.5million people. Still expected to be the most widely watched non-sporting event in the US
this year though so not all bad.

Would that be like the wealthy and privileged Trump cabinet with a reported multi-billion net worth making it
the richest and most out of touch with American Jo Public cabinet in history?? :)

Cheers

It was widely reported that the drop in viewing figures (second worse in 18 years) was due to the increasing politicisation of non political events. (And not just this year)

The same could be said about the BAFTAs etc.
I for one watch such programmes for entertainment, not for the political ramblings.

As for the wealth in the Trump cabinet, what's different?
