The Argakas dam in Paphos overflowed on Saturday lunchtime. The reservoir capacity is 990,000 cubic metres, which was surpassed as had been expected following heavy rainfall in the area. However, an official from the Water Development Department told the Cyprus News Agency that the overflow and heavy rainfall did not mean the area???s water problems have been solved....

As usual, the accompanying picture is not Argaka. If you want to see what it looks like when it overflows, look at the blog we wrote last year:

Nothing to get excited about really, it's one of the smallest dams in Cyprus and regularly reaches capacity! The main point is that it means the bigger reservoirs like Evretou are filling up and that bodes well for our water supplies this summer and beyond! :)

Well, it overflowed nearly a month before it overflowed last year, so there is that too. :)

But I agree, there is a long way to go yet.
