Thousands of Britons living in Cyprus will be struck off electoral rolls, not only for the European Parliament but also for local elections which could bring changes to some municipalities and communities, Phileleftheros reported on Tuesday.
It said that the names will be taken off the voters’ list once Britain exits the EU.
As a first step, some 1,500 Britons who voted in the European Parliament elections of 2014 will be removed from the lists, to be followed by those who voted in local elections, head of the election service Demetris Demetriou told the House Interior Committee yesterday.
He said that a total of 7712 EU citizens had voted in the 2014 European Parliament elections, of whom 1500 were British. He added that some 16,000 EU citizens had voted in the 2016 local elections, the majority of them Britons.
Interior Committee president Eleni Mavrou said that Britons and other EU residents who live in Cyprus prefer to vote in local elections here, but to vote in their countries for MEP.

Re: Britons to be removed from Cyprus election rolls post-Brexit
BHC Stephen Lillie stated this on his Brexit update on Sunday
Voting Rights in Cyprus
As you may well be aware, reciprocal voting rights in local elections for EU citizens in the UK, and UK nationals in the EU are not part of the Withdrawal Agreement. During one of my earlier outreach events, it was impressed upon me that the right for British residents to have a say in local political matters in Cyprus is an important element of feeling part of Cypriot society. I can now confirm that it is our intention to pursue a bilateral agreement with Cyprus to maintain UK citizens’ voting rights, so that Britons living in Cyprus can continue to vote and stand in local elections, after the UK departs the EU on 29 March 2019.
Overseas Voting Rights
Although not directly related to Brexit, we know, from our outreach events, that overseas voting rights is an important issue. Britons in Cyprus are currently entitled to register to vote in UK Parliamentary elections as overseas voters for up to 15 years from the point you were last registered to vote in the UK. As some of you may know, the Government supports a Private Members’ Bill to extend the basis on which British citizens outside the UK quality to participate in Parliamentary elections. The Bill completed its committee stage on November 14 and is due to have its report stage and third reading on January 25, 2019.

If it's going to be reciprocal, it will also mean a shake up in UK elections, when all the EU citizens are removed from the voting register!

I guess it's a matter of sovereignty; one element of the Brexit debate.
