That's why I always try to eat only a small amount from each type of Cypriot fruits to avoid poisoning. Specially if you eat a kilo of melon or grapes you may feel not too well...

I thought it interesting that the French sample had the same failure rate as Cyprus. I bet their newspapers aren't making the same fuss!

I have long avoided eating strawberries in Cyprus as they create a sore mouth, now I know why! Better inspections by the Ministry required rather than just issuing a report!

I wasn’t surprised by this result. I have known for ages that some Cypriot farmers make heavy use of insecticides and pesticides. I always wash fresh fruits and vegitables in plenty of cold water. A habit which I learnt from living in Hong Kong... Sometimes I buy such produce locally, which is from other countries which may lower the risk of accidental poisoning...
I seldom eat Cypriot grapes since a taverna owner who had huge bunches of grapes hanging from a vine shading his taverna told me that he sprayed his grapes with a chemical every week through the season.... sometimes if can taste something unpleasant in locally grown potatoes or carrots for example. I either wash them very thoroughly or discard them.
