They don't mess about in Yiolou. We drove through there on sunday, and did a double take. We always look at the chicken and rabbit yard on the way through. On sunday there was the body of a young fox drapped over one of the fences. Presumably the owners put it there to warn off other foxes. It certainly got our notice!

I thought that foxes were protected in Cyprus.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Are you sure Lloyd, dogs can do as much damage as foxes.

Protected from what ? I know there is no official fox hunting in Cyprus  However I was told by a Cypriot, that they were hunted nearly to extinction by, you know, hunters, and that subsequently they are now protected.

The fox in question was obviously trying to get at the chickens and rabbits when it was killed. It wasn't hunted. It was hunting.

I don't have a problem with the farmer killing that fox at all. It's only natural for a fox to hunt chickens. It's only natural for a farmer to want to stop them.

Dogs too will kill and maim chickens, sheep etc, the farmer in the UK is legally entitled to shoot any dog found chasing their animals, but I wouldn't expect to see it's body draped over a fence. That said, I hate seeing any wild life killed for being what it is.
