JCC payments

Post by Uncle D »

Hi all
I usually pay for my electricity bill via JCC smart. Today after filling in my card details it came up with another page from my bank, Alpha, asking for my DOB and Passport number.
This has never happened before, and fearing a hacker I have not gone ahead with the transaction.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance
David

These are their contact details. I post them here because if you have been hacked it is not beyond their capabilities to spoof their contact page on your PC.

I would give them a call if you are in any doubt whatsoever.

Possibly because setting up DDs here is a pain the butt.

They seem to insist of you attending their offices to fill the form rather than online.

When I set up my electricity DD it took them 3 months to activate it. Not realising this I assumed it was being paid and came very close to being cut off. Fortunately I was in when the the EAK guys called.

Not wanting to go through this rigmarole again when I needed to change the DD account, I now pay directly online with BOC using their template. In a few clicks I only need to set up the payment and payment date ahead of time when the bill arrives.

Paid my electricity last week online using JCC smart and went through as normal, never asked for any extra details. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

For information, I registered with JCC this morning and nowhere was I asked for a DOB and was only asked for the last 3 digits of my ID during registration. So it seems a bit strange they would ask for this information as it isn't in their database so can't be an ID check. Be careful.

Thanks for your help, I will explain
I do have DD for Cyta and had this set up before JCC Smart was available, the reason is I know how much is coming out and when.
Electricity bills are different amounts every time and I would rather make sure that my money in my Bank account will cover it.

This can happen if the renewal date of the Policy was very recent, and so hasn't got onto their system just yet; the Insurance
Co. has to tell them.

I prefer to use direct debit for bills so they are automatically paid and always get a 'bill' at least two weeks before they are due so I can check the amounts.

I use JCC to pay my EAC and CYTA it always redirects to my bank for the extra security check . I am with Helenic .

It's part of Verified by Visa , which most people will know .

But of course with financial security always check with your bank .
