Plane over Paphos

Post by josef k »

I saw this plane coming in to land at Paphos airport today. Does anyone know what it is or whose it is. I couldn't make out any markings but it is definately military.

This lunchtime I had lovely swordfish at the tavern I always go, near the military airfield at Timi Beach and with a lot of noise this plane departed from the airport around 1 PM, flying right over the tavern and then in the direction of Israel....

I was reading in the press the other day, that military equipment from an American base at Oman will be transferred via Cyprus to Israel as Oman don't want to send it direct to Israel.

I forgot to mention that the noise this plane was producing while landing at the Army base Paphos, more than 10 km away from my place, sounded like thunder and I went outdoors to look if rainy weather is coming. Normally I can't hear a thing when planes are landing at Paphos airport.
Perhaps the runway was a bit short for that sort of plane :?:

If you read the link that Memory Man put on, it uses the same engines as the 757 but having four as opposed to two on the 757. It is also designed to land on runways as short as 1km
