Nike - New England Strip.

Post by Firefly »

I know there are many other nationalities who reside in Cyprus, but are there any other English people out there, who object to our Flag being depicted as blue and purple by Nike?

Our Flag is red and white, end of.

despite all the nice things you said about my "blog", are you not a little over the top on this one? It's only a game, not a political statement.

The thing I find funniest about this is that the people moaning the loudest always harp on about other people being snowflakes, but they are the ones being precious on this occasion.

I honestly couldn't care either way as long as they win a bloody tournament at least once in my lifetime. I was born in 1968, so missed out on the glory year.

And for people thinking it might have something to do with appeasing the LGBT crowd, when I grew up the football player cliche was grown men kissing each other when they scored a goal, and I managed to mature into a raging heterosexual, so I am sure a little bit of extra colour on a football kit won't hurt anybody.

This is the official line:

"Together with the FA, the intention was to celebrate the heroes of 1966 and their achievements. "The trim on the cuffs takes its cues from the training gear worn by England's 1966 heroes, with a gradient of blues and reds topped with purple.

To me that is out and out bullshit. Somebody was taking the piss in my opinion, but so what? It is brilliant trolling and has raised a lot of publicity to what would otherwise be just another new kit to fork out over 100 quid for.

Devil, it's not the game that's the issue, but the changing of the English Flag. Imagine if the Scottish Flag was depicted and green and yellow.

Dominic, obviously I don't know if you're English or not, but if you are, then our Flag seems to be of no consequence to you, sadly.

I am English. I prefer to worry about actual problems though, rather than this nonsense.

For me, I would not be bothered if they made it sky blue pink! In fact, I would not be bothered even in the colours of LGBTABCXYZ, provided that my wine was the usual colour.

Nice one Devil.

Well I just thought I would throw the subject into the mix. Makes life more interesting, to have a little variation of thread, and see the posts.

The thing is, I spent the 70s and 80s telling myself that the thugs rampaging across Europe in the name of the England Football Team did not actually represent England, despite the fact that they covered themselves with the red and white cross. Consequently, I couldn't really care what colour cross the official England team use now.

But though I don't agree with you on this subject, I don't object at all on you raising it Firefly. As you say, it provides a bit of variety.

Couldn't give a toss, I'm with devil on this, football, so many stories about so called players, (playing the field if you know what I mean), England is multi race nowadays, not in 1966 when myself watching Alf ramseys football gang recieve the Jules world cup, Wales now have a colered leader, and I'm Welsh, but abandoned uk. Perhaps it's all about cash.

I find football the most sycophantic of all sports . If the groundsman guinea pig dies the players will wear black armbands for a month .

The only thing i find offensive is Nike / FA charging £125,00 for a shirt that some poor bastard is being paid 5p an hour to make them in some asian sweatshop.

Saw this on Twitter:

Sat in a coffee shop and noticed a little girl drawing the Union Jack in crayon. I pointed out she’d used maroon instead of traditional red so should probably start again.

She mumbled something about not having another red so I kindly fished out my emergency Commemorative 1966 ‘Hurst Red’ felt tip and handed it to her.

By now her mother had brought back their drinks and asked why I was talking to her child.

I explained that her daughter was using the wrong shade of red and that we didn’t fight the Nazis on the beaches so that libtard toddlers could disrespect our great grandfathers by using a woke shade of red.

The lady said I was a ‘bloody weirdo’ and told me to ‘piss off’ but I refused to be dragged down to her level so instead, calmly snatched back my pen and angrily scribbled over the maroon bits of her child’s drawing with the correct shade of red.

The mother had the tenacity to actually claim it ‘didn’t matter’ because she was ‘three for gods sake’ but I told her that ‘yes it did matter, actually because if you let three year olds blithely besmirch our great nation by using maroon on the Union Jack today, tomorrow you’ll have non-binary immigrants force feeding you tofu through your anus that turns you gay.’

There was something uplifting in the way the store manager violently escorted me out to the jeers of my fellow customers that confirmed what I had suspected all along - ALL of them were on MY side but were obviously too scared to speak up for fear of being cancelled.

:D To all the people who are having cardiac arrests at the St George flag, here's a bit of History for you.
George was from Anatolia, a Greek-speaking town now part of modern day Turkey, and because of his tall stature and fair hair was probably of Darian origin. George's family were Christians, his father was from Cappadocia and served as an officer of the Roman army. His mother was from Lydda (now Lod, Israel)

St George was born in Anatolia in what is now turkey. And never set foot in England. No one in England celebrates St George's day.
No one cares except a few sociopaths
who call people snowflakes for showing any kind of empathy for others who are in difficult situations.

And just for fun..St. Andrew I believe was born near Galilee, Bonnie Prince Charlie in Rome, St. Patrick is thought have been born in Cumbria or near Dumbarton and initially ended up in Ireland after being kidnapped, but St David is at least thought to have been born in Wales - somewhere along the Pembrokeshire coast.

What are funny old lot we Brit’s are.
