The Red Pool From Above

Post by Dominic »

The Red Pool lies between Kinousa and Lysos, in the Paphos Forest. A remnant of old mines, it remains a peaceful and beautiful location in an area that is great fun to explore. Just don't try going for a swim!

Beautiful images, Thank you Dominic. Amazing also how much dense forest is in that area, only the drone can show us that, flying high up.....

Near the end of the film it looked like a frog swimming in the lake 😄

A beautiful area indeed, peaceful and serene. However, when visiting, please spare a thought for the female victims of the serial killer Metaxas, some of whom he dumped in suitcases in the lake five years ago.

No, you are wrong. I lived in the area long enough to know that serial killer Metaxas dumped the bodies in the red lake of Mitseras, Nicosia district and not in the Kinousa red lake...

There are numerous red lakes in Cyprus. My favourite is in Paphos Forest. It is hard to get to these days though, as the access roads have been closed in order to promote the growth of Cedar trees. I last visited it 5 years ago.

Well, as the access roads to the Panayia Mine and red lake there are closed now, the Kinousa red lake is still better than nothing.

I was visiting the Panayia Mine before they closed the road and took some pics from the lake then....

and it was very hot that time

Apologies Max, you are quite right. Clearly, I should read posts more closely.
