Shingles vaccination

Post by Polly »

Yesterday I called in at Dr Mala's and saw a sign about the shingles vaccination free on Gesy for anyone between, I think, 60 and 75, if you are interested. Not available at the moment though, call in next week.

I wonder why there is an upper age cut-off, rather than just people up to 75 ?

Trev. It's considered far less effective in older people. In the UK you can only get it up to 79yo. It's a one-off jab, by the way, although in some countries you get two doses, 6 months apart.

My UK Doctor phoned last night offering me the jab.
You will need to come back between 6 weeks and 6 months for the second dose, I *think* she said
